More Than Just a Cafe

In my younger days, the Mercury Cafe was a second home to me. I would venture there four nights a week to visit with friends, snack on organic appetizers, catch an occasional poetry reading or theater performance, and dance! I lived for dancing at the Mercury Cafe! Now that I'm grown, married, and a mother, my visits are rare but nonetheless magical.

Located in Downtown Denver, everything about the Mercury compels me to sing its praises. Their cafe is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They offer a brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays so you never have to miss out. Their menu is entirely organic and local- making all their menu choices delicious and health-conscious. As for vegetarians and people with special dietary needs, the Mercury is always happy to accommodate! If you're a carnivore like me, check out their Colorado Elk Steak-- all organic, all local. The service is always friendly and you always feel welcomed and at home.

Powered 100% by wind and solar energy, you'll never feel bad about visiting 'The Merc.' It's easy to find, located on the corner of 21st and California, with its brightly painted exterior. The interior is warm and whimsical, you can't help but be charmed by its magical atmosphere. The Mercury caters to parties of any size-- weddings, charity fund-raisers, birthdays, and events.

While their schedule has changed a little since I was younger, they still offer Swing Dancing! My favorite excuse to visit the Mercury Cafe! The entire upper floor of the cafe has been converted into a stage for live music and dancing. The minute you walk in the door you can hear the music shake the walls and the dancers thumping the dust from the ceiling! They offer Swing lessons for beginners every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday evening, Tango on Friday nights and now Belly-dancing on Monday nights! There's nowhere else quite like it. The Mercury is your one-stop-destination for the arts! Drop in on a Friday or Sunday evening to catch a live poetry reading or check their schedule and plan an evening of theater, art, or music. The possibilities are endless.

Or contact Marilyn at 303-294-9258 to make a reservation or plan a party! Marilyn is usually available to answer her phone on Mondays and Thursdays, evenings on Saturday and Sunday. If you're passing through Denver, visiting from out of town, or a resident of the area, the Mercury Cafe is an experience you just can't miss! There's always something happening and you'll come back again and again. Put on your zoot suit and saddle shoes and breeze on in!
