What is the middle class? Who are they? I'll tell you who they are. They are the ones who go to work everyday and pay their taxes. Those taxes that they pay guess where that money goes? It goes to uncle Sam, government agencies and those in need. That's a small list. But you get the idea. Their the worker ants that build and fund our U.S.A. This nation needs the middle class to survive financially.
Most middle class purchase homes. They buy cars to commute to work. They make donations to non profits and churches. And, the list goes on. Middle class people buy things as a result keeping the economy going.
By the way, this article is not meant to bash the rich, poor or the low income. It is written to let people understand what is slowly happening to the middle class.
People are loosing their jobs at an alarming rate. I personally know of five people who have lost their jobs in the past year. The economy was to blame for each one. Now what, there goes five people who now need assistance from the government. Five more people that the other working middle class people will have to pay for. And, they deserve to get help because they contributed to the economy.
Prices for schools, products and services are going up every day. Mom and dad have to bring home more bacon to pay the bills and feed their children. School tuition has gone up. Utilities have gone up.
What about the middle classes paycheck. Besides the usual tax suspects now more things are taken out of the paycheck. These days most companies are charging a higher health insurance monthly payment. Some people are paying $1000 yearly deduct ables for each procedure. This is not right. Some middle class employees may delay a doctors visit because they can't afford the deduct able. Then what happens. Maybe they get sick and they no longer can perform their duties. They loose their job. Guess what happens next. Take one more off the middle class list.
Many middle class people are older. Its only because it takes time to be middle class. So, I've noticed that some companies are switching from full time employees to part time or shift work. I know a company that had all full time employees. And, when the company had new owners they decided to make everyone part time or only work two or three days out of the week. Yes, they needed to hire more people to cover the shifts but they knocked many people out of the middle class. They lost their benefits and now have to apply for partial unemployment to survive. That's just not right. Take alot more off of the middle class list.
It is also very frightening to see that some middle class are having trouble paying their mortgage and many are loosing their homes to foreclosure. The government helps the corporations, banks and the poor but who do you think pays that bill? The middle class. The middle class homeowners should get help too. Don't you think.
The bottom line is this. Think about what would happen if there was no more middle class. Scary

Post a CommentI used to consider myself a member of the middle class, but for many issues and situations you point out here, sometimes I consider myself lower class with the belongings of a middle class person received from a time that has passed.
I agree - the middle class is fastly fading and we are becoming a Class System (upper and lower) cheers :)
