But, the mind has also been used to wage war against almost every known civilization on the planet. The third dimensional mind can be used to kill or to cure, and the future of our children lies just within our grasp.
Webster's dictionary defines mind as "the element or complex of elements in an individual that feels, perceives, thinks, wills, and especially reasons." This single inborn trait of reasoning is what makes mankind different from all other species. The only problem with reasoning is that everyone seems to have a different perception of reality.
The Anxious Mind
The third dimensional mind is super computer which excels in problem solving, and men are definitely the problem solvers of mankind. The minds of men excel when it comes to contemplating: mechanics, micro-biology, or even the string theory. Most of the time men are usually the ones just waiting for their chance to rectify or "fix" the situation.
Ego also plays a big part in the inner workings of a man's mind. The ego is a part of our subconscious mind which provides our sense of self. This sense of self controls such thoughts as: who am I, what can I achieve, most fears, and also worries of failure.
When fear enters the mind "self-preservation" is your number one instinct for survival. Flight or fight seems to be the instinctual mode of salvation. Some minds revel in the thought of fear, and torment others with numerous types of physical and mental abuse. Then you have the other side of the coin where creative minds excel in theories of thought.
The Creative Mind
Albert Einstein, who was born in 1879, is known for his incredible mathematical mind. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1921, and was also elected as "a fellow of the royal society."
When Einstein described his theoretical dissertation on the dimensions of molecules, Einstein replied "a storm broke loose in my mind." The particular essays which were written in 1905 were his Nobel Prize winning theories on light; how it moves and bends, and also how fast it travels. This is his famous "theory of relativity" on the electrodynamics of moving bodies. This is just an example of what was on his mind. Hard to imagine isn't it?
The last letter Einstein ever wrote was a letter urging that his name be added to a manifesto urging that all nations give up their Nuclear weapons. Einstein died shortly after and was cremated in 1955.
The Curious Mind
Man's natural born curiosity began with the invention of the wheel, and then progressed on to soar over the dunes on the outer banks of North Carolina. On these sand dunes Wilber and Orville Wright mastered the theories of "heavier" than air flight.
Now with technology catching up to the creativity and inquisitive mind of man, we began to look to the stars for answers. And some of these questions have been asked since the dawn of time.
Emotional thoughts such as; who am I, and what am I doing here at this moment in time, seem to occupy the mind at times. A thought of death also probably runs a close second to wonders about the meaning of life.
But when the third dimensional mind has no answer to some of these more spiritual questions of the mind, the mind reverts to what it always does the best; it shifts to an area where more knowledge and interest comes into play: money, and power.
The Egotistical Mind
The hunger for power and greed are the downfalls of mankind. Ever since the beginning of time man has fought for supremacy. Self preservation has always been the number one thought in the minds of men. After security is provided, wealth and power usually comes in a close second. This is when the ego really begins to kick in.
Many great spiritual teachers have come and gone, but some of their concepts remain. What the fruits of these concepts are will depend on the future generation. Will the mind spiritually evolve, or will the ego and the mind begin to work double overtime in our struggle for survival?
Are we going downhill like a snowball headed for hell? Or are we making a transition out of the egotistical mind into the spiritual one? More than likely our children's children will be the ones to witness the fruits of these labors.
If the mind continues to be programmed in such a destructive manner the outlook for the future is pretty bleak. Someone once stated that they didn't know who the winner of the next world war would be, but they knew what the weapons of choice would be: sticks and stones. Think about that one for awhile, and see what comes to mind.
