This trend to eliminate the American worker from the workforce, or regulate him to second or forth class status, did not just appear out of thin air. Nor is it due to the U.S. businesses' hatred of American workers. The single largest expense to a business is labor. It costs more to hire a foreigner, from a foreign land, due to language and culture differences, as well as the cost of getting him into the country and sponsoring him. Fact is the vast majority of HB-1s aren't going to the high-skilled, high-earning workers, but to the low-skilled, entry-level workers. It would be less expensive for domestic employers to hire domestic workers. It is not a matter of there simply being a shortage of domestic workers to fill the positions. If that was the case, as in any equation of supply and demand, the price of labor, i.e. wages, would go up instead of going on an increasingly speedy descent, after being virtually stagnant for many years. The federal government has, over the last 7 plus years, dramatically leaned the table in favor of outsourcing jobs as well as infrastructure to remain economically competitive. Today, the business environment is laid with ill-prepared domestic young people coming out of the U.S educational system, the U.S government turning a blind eye to restriction and laws forbidding the hiring of illegal workers, and the U.S government blatantly encouraging employers and businesses to relocate outside of the country. The perfect storm that can drown this Republic as the waters covered Atlantis.
It has come down to a matter of economic survival to the business owners and CEOs. Business owners and executives, like Mr. Gates, have been screaming that the U.S. government's educational system has been producing grossly inadequate workers for their needs. For years corporations have been telling everyone who would listen on Capitol Hill that kids are graduating with low work ethics, low work skills, and needing remedial training on basic things that they should have learned in school. But the federal government has done nothing to correct the severe problem. Instead it has passed unfunded mandates down to the States, such as No Child Left Behind, which does nothing but retard excellence in government schools' K through 12 grades. Coupled with the unaddressed 200-ton growing gorilla of a zero birthrate of Americans, which naturally decreases the number of workers entering the workforce (thereby dramatically affecting the ratio of workers-to-retirees for pending Social Security payments owed to the explosion of Baby Boomers), this will lead not only to a Social Security melt-down, but a brain drain, highly educated people expatriating, or leaving the country, but also a separation of the educated and the non, or less, educated. Education will become a matter of class and privilege. The main vehicle that Americans have used to step from low-class to middle-class, and above, will be removed. John Adams, one of the nation's Fathers, once stated, "A native American who cannot read or write is as rare an appearance...as a comet or an earthquake."Oh how times have changed. The once heralded American education system, that was ranked number one, now ranks near the bottom of all industrialized nations. The mass invasion of low skilled and low-educated foreigners into the system will only speed our nation's literacy disintegration.
As in other instances of U.S. government's manipulation of societal posture to bring about its desired chance of increasing its power and influence (such as allowing an unrestrained flow of Mexican immigrants to bring the American people to the verge of necessitating a national ID card -- supposedly to control illegal immigrants, but will instead place further controls over American citizens) has created the negative domestic employment environment that we have today. Just as a fireman who comes first on the scene of a burning home, while it was he who set the fire in the first place. It is not like the government is unaware of the dismal state that the U.S educational system is in. The government gets the results of SAT scores, as well as other national and international academic tests, particularly in the fields of math and sciences. Remember the South Carolina high school grad who could not verbalize her thoughts on a simple question while appearing on national TV? That should have initiated Cabinet meetings and emergency action at the highest levels of government throughout the Republic to demand the highest standards of excellence in reading, writing, comprehension, and the sciences. It warranted no less of a national reaction then when the Communist Soviet Union sent Sputnik into orbit under the Kennedy Administration. Instead, late night TV shows make jokes and game shows are created to highlight our nation's intellectual degradation with shows such as, "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader", and classrooms are overburdened with teaching English to children of people who are in the nation illegally, leaving American children unable to comprehend, read, or write English, nor able to identify the countries who where allied with America during WW 2, be able to point to the U.S.A on a map, explained the historical purpose of the Declaration of Independence, or balance a checkbook.
Lord Acton stated that education is one of the pillars of liberty when he said, Liberty is the prevention of control by others. This requires self-control and, therefore, religious and spiritual influences; education, knowledge, well-being."The tragic consequences of the U.S. government's inexplicable inaction to ensure that its educational system produces truly educated citizens, who aren't just the best workers, but also the best leaders and producers of the world, is that many of the youth of Americans will graduate mostly unwanted by not only domestic employers and businesses, but by international employers and businesses as well. America is going to become incapable of competing with nations such as Poland, Russia, India, and communist China, whose educational system is producing Master Degrees and Ph.D.s in science, engineering, and manufacturing, while Americans are attaining mostly Bachelor Degrees in the Literary Arts and service related fields.
America is in the midst of a galactic battle on cultural and financial fronts - none of which are we winning, at the moment. The cultural battle involves the mass invasion of immigrants who are unassimilated and are virtually unchecked by government officials. Thus, there is a parallel existence being created with different expectations and laws applying to the immigrants, particularly to those from Mexico, than to the domestic population, which creates pockets of nations, within nations, within a nation. An even more serious threat financially and militarily comes from communist China. The years of U.S. government-encouraged mass transfer of technological and economic substance has left Americans vulnerable to the whims of foreign influences as in no time since America was established as a free and independent nation, unable to feed, clothe, fend for or financially care for our own needs. All of this combined is making the fact that U.S government schools are not producing quality citizens able to compete effectively, as we have done in the past to have created one of the greatest economic marvels in history. This can only lead to this nation's children becoming servants to the needs of the world rather than becoming leaders of it.
It is not the fault of businesses or businessmen, such as Bill Gates, to seek alternative solutions to satisfy their interests, which is to remain profitable and in business. As I have said in the past, Americans have the America that we demand to have. Our nation was created to be ruled from the bottom up, unlike any other nation on the planet. Our leaders will do what we desire most. But we have to be educated to know what is truly in our best interest. It is most unrealistic to work 40 plus hours a week, engulf ourselves in trivial pursuits, devoid of expanding our education of political matters, or matters of substance, and totally rely on the political leaders to take care of our interests and freedoms. Unfortunately, the media that was established to be the gatekeepers, for the most part, has surrendered the keys over to the very institution that it was in charge of watching - the government, and therefore is unreliable for faithfully educating the masses to the indiscretions of the government. We can demand the establishment of a serious program to make America the education superpower, as it once was. We can demand that government officials follow the Law themselves, uphold the oath that they took to protect the Constitution and enforce the Laws of the land, and be morally and ethically correct. We can demand the U.S government cease aiding foreign governments at the expense of America's interests. We can demand the U.S. government create a tax-friendly environment for business to encourage businesses and investments to flow into America, rather then out of it.
The lessons of Rome tells us that America can not remain as a superpower of any kind by failing to be strong morally, intellectually, and financially at home. But in the end it is up to the citizen to decide what type of government we shall have, one the disposes self responsibility and freedom or one that disposes tyranny and bondage.

Post a CommentExcuse me, I meant "too darn lazy," or they have not as yet been affected as so many have.
And Gates is a liar. He wants to outsource because India's labor is cheaper, not because Americans are coming out of college without technology skills. That has been the fastest growing industry - and while the dumbing down of Americans in basic reading and english skills is true....since that No Child Left Behind also placed standards on teachers and kids today use calculators and "memory" lists rather than long division and phonics - it's the curriculum itself, and a lack of actually critical thinking skills. Why do you think so many are in their delusion as to what is going on in this country - lack of critical thinking skills, or they are just too damn lazy to open their mouths.
Don't worry, they are going to kill off us baby boomers as soon as we aren't producing any longer. The Teri Schiavo case brought in Florida (a high retiree state) set a precedence that it is alright to starve and dehydrate people in this country when they are no longer productive or a "burden" on society. Buffett, an agnostic and Obama's friend, will have that government contract, as he does with his Geico, for America's health care....an avowed agnostic only interested in corporate profits. This is even worse than Orwell at this point, what is going on in this country. People are being killed in jails over low level "social drinking" DUIs - or beaten. Americans are being put in jail, while Mexicans are getting immunity and free passes.....the amount of illegals since Reagan has ballooned since that first amnesty. There is no reason for an amnesty at all, since they have it better really not becoming citizens at this point.
