What is the official name of the Mormon Church?
Answer: The official name of the Mormon Church is actually the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also referred to as the LDS Church

In what state was the Mormon Church first founded?
Answer: The Mormon Church was first founded in Fayette, New York, on April 6, 1830.

Who was the first leader of the Mormon Church?
Answer: The founder and first prophet and leader of the LDS Church was Joseph Smith.

Who is the current President of the Mormon Church?
Answer: The currently President of the LDS Church is Gordon B. Hinckley.

What percentage of a member's income does the Mormon Church ask their members to pay to tithing?
Answer: Members of the LDS Church are asked to pay 10% of all their income to the tithing fund. They are also asked to pay a monthly fast offering in an amount of their choosing, though they are asked to pay the equivalent of the cost of feeding their own family for two meals.

Which drinks do Mormon's avoid drinking?
Answer: Mormons are instructed in the Word of Wisdom as revealed to Joseph Smith not to drink tea, coffee, or alcoholic beverages. Mormons are also advised to avoid drinking any caffeinated beverage, though they are not expressly forbidden from doing so.

Answer: Deseret Industries is an LDS Church owned thrift store. Contrary to popular belief, the Mormon Church does not own Coca Cola or Pepsi.

What is the average age of a Mormon missionary?
Answer: Young Mormon men who meet standards of worthiness are asked to serve a two-year mission from the age of 19 to 21. Some LDS young women who have not yet married by the age of 21 are invited to serve a mission if they so desire. The LDS Church also invites its elderly couples to serve a mission once their children are grown.

What activity does the Mormon Church teach against?
Answer: Members of the LDS church are taught not to engage in premarital sex. Youth of the church are fully allowed and encouraged to participate in wholesome dances, public or private school attendance, and are only asked to avoid dating before the age of 16.

Are Mormons are Christians?
Answer: Yes! Mormons believe in Jesus Christ as the literally Son of God and believe that He leads and instructs a living prophet today.

Do Mormons currently practice polygamy?
Answer: No, Mormons discontinued the practice of polygamy many years ago and current members who engage in polygamous practices are excommunicated from the Church.

Is it true that Mormons do not voluntarily serve in any military branch of service?
Answer: No! There is a larger percentage of members of the LDS church who voluntarily enlist in the United States military than any other single religious organization.

Are members of the Mormon Church found only in North and South America?
Answer: No, there are wards, branches, and stakes of the LDS Church on every continent and in almost every country in the world today.

    Polygamy: that is correct in a CIVIL sense. It's practiced in a celestial sense, as evidenced by still-sanctioned multiple sealings.
