The Morning Mist
Obscuring the backyard hue
To me it's a mystery novel opening its pages
As I wait for the colors of the day to come through
As the mist lifts, the green grass is exposed
Followed by what's left of the garden blooms
The pinks and yellows of the roses become bright
The sun grows stronger until no more fog looms
As I sit on my porch, I view the mist and its beauty
I watch the day unfold on its own terms and in its own way
Like a magician who wants to show off her illusions
The wonder of nature amazes me each day
When the mist has finally disappeared
And the new day stands boldly before me
I vanquish the fear that held my heart in the night
And see only the promise of what is yet to be
