Snakes
Snakes are commonly at or near the top of any list of dangerous pets and with good reason. While the vast majority of these serpents are harmless, the ones that are dangerous can be deadly. There are two ways in which snakes can kill - venom and constriction. Both methods are terrifying, and both are quite efficient.
Venomous snakes - Black mambas, gaboon vipers, rattlesnakes and hundreds of other venomous reptiles have been known to turn up in pet collections over the years. One bite from many of these species can literally kill a man in no time flat, and yet people keep them in their homes as pets. One has to open the cage to clean it and to feed the reptiles, so there is no real safe way for anyone other than an expert to keep these snakes.
Constrictors - The two major culprits here are the reticulated python and the anaconda, but there are a number of other species that are capable of killing men. Children and the elderly are at particular risk. Imagine being slowly squeezed until you had no way of breathing. It would be a horrible way to die, yet people take the chance with these pets all the time.
Big Cats
Like snakes, big cats kill or maim people who try to keep them as pets on a regular basis in the news. Lions, tigers and other big cat species are not meant to be kept in your back yard in a cage, yet it happens all over the world. These cats might be adorable little kittens when they are born, but they are wild animals at heart. They will grow up and they then become very dangerous. Even if they are adorable and safe for you, that does not mean they are the same to your neighbors or visitors.
Alligators/Crocodiles
I once knew a man that kept a baby alligator in his bathtub. It was so fun to watch it swim around and so on. He kept it until it outgrew his bathtub and ended up losing his finger because of it. Ironically he was very lucky. He could have ended up losing much more than that from this dangerous pet. You have to be kidding me. An alligator or crocodile?
Dogs
As sad is it might be, the dog is the most dangerous pet on the planet. Why? Mainly because of a numbers game. If you have 10 million dogs as pets and only 10 alligators, the dogs are going to likely seem more dangerous. Still, they had to be reported here for accuracies sake on a list of dangerous pets.
While certainly there are others that could make the list, these are the most common dangerous pets out there. If you are thinking about getting one of these dangerous pets, then think again. Both you and your neighborhood will be glad you did. Wild animals deserve to be left alone and live their lives as nature intended.

This is a good list. A lot people see baby snakes and alligators and think, "Oh, how cool." Not realizing they will get huge.
