The Most Evil Fictional Corporations

Lee Andrew Henderson
In movies, television shows, comic books and video games evil comes in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes the villain of the story will be an average person with a brilliant mind or sometimes the villain could be a giant monster with no mind at all. The villain could come in the form of a wizard, a mad scientist, or a vampire. Sometimes the villain could even be a giant man made of marshmallow. But there is one villain that beats them. It is the evilest, vilest, and greediest type of villain ever: the evil corporation. Let me present to you some of the evil corporations you should know about.

Blue Sun Corporation - The mysterious Blue Sun Corporation appears in the television show Firefly and also the movie about the same characters, Serenity. Not much is known about the Blue Sun Corporation but what we do know is that any mention of the Blue Sun Corporation causes the very disturbed River Tam to go nuts. In one episode of Firefly River Tam slashes Jayne with a knife. In the DVD commentary the writer of the episode tells us that River was actually slashing Jayne's shirt because it had a Blue Sun Corporation logo. In the movie Serenity, River Tam goes nuts and attacks the patrons of a bar because a Blue Sun Corporation commercial comes on the television.

LexCorp - LexCorp is a corporation in the DC Comics universe and was created by the ruthless Lex Luthor. LexCorp's first two acquisitions were two struggling airlines. When they began to grow short on fuel, Lex Luthor bought Southwestern Petroleum and renamed it LexOil. LexCorp began to grow until it was one of the largest multinational corporations in the world. LexCorp has many properties in areas such as LA, Denver, Houston, New Orleans, Gotham City and Boston as well as countries like Australia, Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, France, Saudi Arabia, Japan and Singapore. Nobody is sure if Lex Luthor has some kind of grand scheme other than owning a lot of properties but everyone is pretty sure he's up to no good.

Omni Consumer Products - Omni Consumer Products, or OCP, is the corporation in the movie Robocop. Omni Consumer Products has created more products than you can imagine. They provide everything from minor consumer products to military hardware. Omni Consumer Products created a military robot called the Ed 209 but like in most action movies the project goes horribly wrong. Omni Consumer Products then makes Robocop instead, a law enforcer that is mostly robot but has the brain of a human.

Shinra Electric Power Company - Shinra Electric Power Company, or just Shinra for short, is the powerful mega-corporation in the video game Final Fantasy VII. Shinra started off as a small weapons development company but when they developed mako power they became a multi-conglomerate. The mako power that Shinra created is a substance that is extracted from spirit energy to be a source of fuel and electrical energy. The Shinra Corporation is destroyed during the events of Final Fantasy VII but President Shinra vows to rebuild the company.

Union Aerospace Corporation - Union Aerospace Corporation is the military-industrial conglomerate in the video game Doom. Union Aerospace Corporation is primarily a weapon and space exploration company. Union Aerospace Corporation has some kind of contract with the United States government so in the video game you are one of the marines guarding it. The Union Aerospace Corporation research building was built near ancient ruins which they discovered could be used to teleport objects between the two moons but anyone who was sent through the gateways either disappeared or suffered madness.

Wayne Enterprises - Ok, so maybe not all mega-corporations are evil. Wayne Enterprises is the corporation owned by Batman's alter-ego Bruce Wayne. Bruce Wayne is of course a likable owner and very good to his employees but that doesn't stop bad things from happening at Wayne Enterprises. Often employees will have a grudge for one reason or another and Batman will have to save the day. Wayne Enterprises is also a great way for Bruce Wayne to have as many resources as possible which means more gadgets and information for Batman.
