The Most Memorable Children's Birthday Party

Daisy May
The most memorable birthday party that I threw for my kids is actually the worst party that I threw for my kids. Strange thing is that my kids don't remember it.

I have three kids whose birthdays are within a thirty-one day section, the two boys first and the one girl last. Since it was such a hassle to make or buy three cakes and have three celebrations, I decided that my two sons could share a surprise birthday party and a cake.

A decorated chocolate birthday cake with both boy's name was bought along with different flavors of ice cream, pop and paper plates and cups. I told all of my friends to bring their kids to the party. There was about fifteen to twenty of their mutual Friends invited from families that we knew. However, I told them not to tell their kids about the surprise birthday party because I was worried that my boys would hear about it.

A little before I expected guests to start showing up, I put the candles on the cake. When it was past time for guests to come, I started getting anxious and made a few phone calls. That is when I found out the party was a dud. Some never answered the phone, others said they forgot and let the kids go someplace else. The worst excuse that I heard was the mom was busy making supper and couldn't get away before the husband came home.

So I had my husband light the candles while I called all three of our kids into the kitchen. We sang Happy Birthday to the boys. We cut the cake and served ice cream and had a party of five.

That is very sad, I am so sorry. I am sure the boys still had a nice time. It is probably good they didn't know about the party, as they would have been all excited and then really sad when no one showed up.
