The Most Popular Suburbs Within Brisbane, Australia

Brisbane has many different suburbs and areas. Each area has something to offer to any individual, and everyone has their preferences depending on their interests. Everyone is different and better suited to one suburb over another. Below you will find a summary on the Six Most Popular areas within the area of Brisbane.

Brisbane CBD. The CBD also known as the Central Business District is constantly thriving with people, from Professionals, Students, Backpackers, and Tourists. The Queen Street Mall is located within the CBD and is the largest and most popular shopping district within Brisbane. It has numerous malls, shops, and eateries. The CBD is also full of rental apartments for those looking for housing. The Roma Street Transit Centre is located just off Queen Street Mall for those interested in Public Transportation. There are many nice restaurants within the CBD and some with lovely seafood done on the River Walk. The Botanic Gardens are also a short stroll away for those wanting to spend some time outdoors.

Fortitude Valley. This is a constantly thriving part of Brisbane located approximately 1Km from the CBD. It contains many popular pubs, restaurants, and cafes, and is a popular spot for those wanting to live just outside of the city. Brunswick Street is perhaps the most popular area as it is a nice pedestrian walkway full of numerous restaurants and pubs, and is packed with people during the nights.

New Farm. This popular area is located approximately 2Km from the CBD. It is known to be a trendy area with numerous dining options from restaurants to pubs to cafes. It consists mainly of apartments and is a little quieter than the Fortitude Valley Area. This is a popular spot for its close proximity to the Brisbane River.

Spring Hill. This area is about 1Km away from the CBD. There are plenty of dining options within Spring Hill and if you crave a little more excitement Fortitude Valley is just a short walk away or you can walk into the city for some shopping at Queen Street Mall.

Kangaroo Point. This suburb is located across the Brisbane River approximately 1Km away from the CBD. It is also a popular spot due to its close proximity to the River and many apartments have fabulous views of the River. There are numerous dining options, but limited shopping. You do however have easy access to the CBD on the City Cat Ferry.

Southbank. This is a popular area within Brisbane hosting the Cultural Centre, Performing Art Centre, and Arts Gallery. The Southbank Parklands are perhaps the most visited within the area as it contains Streets Beach, an artificial lagoon which is usually full of visitors, and resembles a tropical beach. The Southbank Parklands are also within walking distance to the city making it a popular stop. There is also a market that takes place during the weekends.
