Using the Most Searched For Online Terms/Keywords to Boost Page Views

Aside from search terms that point you in the direction of a particular website that you want to use - youtube, facebook, yahoo, Google, hotmail, mapquest, etc, you can see that a lot of the popular internet search terms are driven by news. If you are looking to increase your page views based on keyword popularity, you might consider adding content on any of the popular search terms above.

Another approach would be to produce quick online web content in response to keywords that are trending as a result of current and breaking news stories. For that information, you want to check what the most popular online terms are for the day. I tend to use Google Trends for that. Google Trends is exactly what it sounds like. It is a list of the most popular "hot search" topics at any given time. Here is what is trending as the most popular online topics while I am writing this article:

1. brandon knight

2. angelina tracy

3. tinley park home invasion

4. mark becker

5. droid incredible

6. kush and orange juice download

7. jerry jones

8. irs extension form 2009

9. tax extension form 2010

10. wiz khalifa

11. tax day freebies

12. elaine spottswood

13. brandon marshall

14. miami dolphins

15. ray mccallum

16. paychex

17. cori rist

18. china earthquake today

19. starbucks free coffee april 15

20. where to mail federal tax return

As you can see, the most searched for terms in a short period of time tend to be news-driven.

A Fun & Popular Website for the Most Searched Internet Terms: Dogpile.com

I had to include Dogpile.com as a website to go to for the most popular online search terms because it has a scrolling list that tells you just what those search terms are. Unlike other keyword popularity ranking sites, Dogpile.com gives the user the option to include or exclude "adult" terms. Oh how the popular terms change with the click of a button. It's not a joke that the most popular search terms are those about adult content.

AOL Hot Searches: An Article About the Most Search Words and a List

AOL Hot Searches has taken a novel approach. They write an article one of the most popular online searches, and then list the keyword rankings. Seems like a great way to increase page views - drawing people interested in the content of the article, and the rest of us who are interested in the search term rankings.

Here is what a popular search term list looks like at their website:

Hot Searches From April 14, 2010

1. 'Dancing With the Stars' - Which couple won't be dancing next week

2. China Earthquake - A 7.1 quake kills hundreds in Western Tibetan

3. Charlie Sheen- Having an affair with model Angelina Tracy?

4. Rickey Minor - 'American Idol' music director replacing Eubanks

5. Jamba Juice - Get a coupon for a free smoothie

The majority of these terms are entertainment-figure oriented, a sad commentary.
