The Most Underused Superstar in the WWE - Shane McMahon

L. Vincent Poupard
By the nature of being the son of the fan-hated Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon is already holds a prominent place in the minds of WWE wrestling fans. Shane McMahon's abilities on the mike are unmatched by even some of the best performers that are seen in the WWE today. Shane McMahon's abilities in the ring are also at a higher level then many of the highest paid stars in WWE history.

Shane McMahon is by far the most underused, under respected, and under managed wrestler of our time. His unbelievable skills have gone to waste in the WWE wrestling ring for way to long.

WWE fans will always know Shane as the son of Vince McMahon. Shane McMahon knows that he will stand in his father's shadow for at least another decade. When Shane McMahon was young, he spent hours training with the Superstars of the WWE. He wanted to learn their in-ring skills, and their abilities to get the fans behind them, or against them.

Many people do not realize that Shane McMahon actually wanted to be a wrestler. He knew that one day he would own the WWE, but he wanted to be a wrestler as well for the organization.

Shane McMahon spent hours every week with many of the former WWE Superstars that today are considered as legends of the ring. Triple H once stated that he believed that Shane McMahon was the most trained wrestler of all time.

When Shane McMahon hits the ring in a shirt and tie, all wrestling fans who watch the WWE programs know that they are in for a surprise. They know that Shane McMahon is there to rile them up in some way. There are very few Superstars in the WWE or any other wrestling organization that can have the, "Waiting to see what happens next," effect on the fans. Shane McMahon will always be one of them.

When it is announced that Shane McMahon is going to be wrestling, all the fans know that they are going to be in for a great show. Shane McMahon will always be remembered for being the guy that gave a flying elbow off of the Titan Tron. That move, to this day, is still considered one of the most remarkable stunts not only in WWE history, but of wrestling history.

When a WWE fan sees Shane McMahon put a garbage can in the ring, that fan knows that one of the most amazing moves in wrestling is about to be seen. Shane McMahon will put the can across another wrestler's limp body in the corner of the ring. He will then jump from another corner of the ring to kick the can in the face of the other wrestler. The, "Coast to Coast," is a move that very few wrestlers actually have the skill to perform.

The fact that Shane McMahon has held both the Hardcore and the European Titles is not enough. Shane McMahon has a lot more skills then many of the top stars, and that should be taken into consideration. It would seem fitting to put the Championship Belt around his waist at least once in his life.

I would love to see Shane get more involved in WWE storyline. WWE is getting boring nowadays.

i believe shane is the greatest heel to have ever appeared in wwe, and is probably the most underrated wwe character ever.

Shane is a great attraction for WWE to pull out every once in a great while. Let him spice up a boring PPV maybe. He definitely could not pull out a quality wrestling match every night though.

one thing i know it not all ecw, raw, smackdown, divas never did it at all. but from the start the person did it is shane mcmahon is the one did to death of vince k mcmahon from the the team alliance still now only played with vince k mcmahon all the way and use everyone his can to finish his father off his did not finish vince shane is the one sayed it to vince ater the air of wwe one next night of wwe vince fire ashley massuro. but vince won ecw Hevyweight champions from Bobby Lashley at backlash 07 befor the limo blow up. on that day befor every one turn up at wwe shane mcmahon put in a bomb in the limo without everyone see it that is only way shane two it.

By the way, Shane held the Hardcore Title and European title because he pinned guys who were already down. Kind of like what Vince did when he won the ECW title. AND the "Coast to Coast" is actually RVD's move and to see Shane do it pails in comparison and is nothing more than Shane ego tripping all over himself.

You're kidding me right? I'll give you the fact that Shane plays a good heel and for that reason alone is entertaining, but he sucks a a wrestler. The guy can falls into an airbag and gets thrown around by Kurt Angle and all of the sudden he's a wrestler? HELLO! First off, any number of guys can to the "stunts" he has done, but aren't allowed due to 1) risk of injury and liability, 2) they wrestle every day and Shane can convenietly do one big bump a year because he doesn't work in the ring every day sacrifing his body on a daily basis 3) they have no stroke within the WWE liek Shane does. Shane has mediocre athletism.

Why is it that when real wrestlers do amazing things in the ring every day that no one blinks and eye (HBK, Edge and The Hardy's numerous Table, Ladders and Chair matches for example, Undertaker's Hel In A Cell Matches, etc.) but when an over weight non wrestler like Shane takes a bump one a year he's suddenly labled as a great wrestler. Are you kidding me? B

I agree 100%.Shane due to the fact of who his daddy is will always be labled as the "boss's son".I would love to see him as whc or wwe champ.Even the I.C. champ.I swear I can't remember a good match from 2001 that didn't involve shane. He is excellent on the mic and i must say VERY good looking. He has it all to bad he isn't used the right way sometimes.

I haven't watched wrestling in a long time (basically since the Rock left), but I was always a fan of Shane. Good article!
