The Most Unusual and Unique Hotels in America

There are so many great hotels across America from the high rise luxury buildings in the major cities to small country inns. There are also hotels that are a bit beyond the ordinary for the guest who wants an unusual experience. Choose from hotels under the water, in a large wooden dog, in antique railroad, on the side of a mountain or in a light keepers house or one of the other unusual and unique one of a kind hotels.

Jules Undersea Lodge at the Key Largo Undersea Park is an underwater research lab that doubles as a hotel. The only way to get in is to scuba dive. They will give anyone who is not a certified diver a lesson before they go down and you can take lessons to become certified. The lab has air-conditioning, hot showers, stereo music, VCR/DVD, a fully stocked galley, and unlimited diving for certified divers. A stay includes gear, dinner and breakfast. Space is very limited and you must book at least one month in advance.

The Dog Bark Park Inn is a bed and breakfast located inside the world's largest beagle. The loft room sleeps four and there is additional space in the dog's muzzle. The room includes a microwave, fridge, table, AC, coffee maker and radio. Books games and puzzles are available and there is a continental breakfast in the morning.

Northern Rail Traincar Suites is a bed and breakfast located in authentic railroad cars on 160 acres of land in
Two Harbors, Minnesota. There is a total of 18 guestrooms decorated in Victorian, Oriental or Safari themes. A continental breakfast is served in the main building, which also houses a lending library. Each suite accommodated up to four people.

The Post Ranch is located on the cliffs overlooking Big Sur, California. The ranch is a couples getaway location with a total of 40 rooms with either an ocean or mountain view. Every one has a king size bed, wood burning fireplace, indoor or outdoor spa tub, deck, coffee and tea makers and a music system, but no tv or alarm. All of the rooms are non smoking. Continental breakfast is served at the Sierra Mar Restaurant or you can arrange to have breakfast served in your room.

The Heceta Head Lighthouse and Light Keeper's house were built in 1894 and are on the National Register of Historic Places. The lighthouse is still a working lighthouse. The keeper's house is on a cliff and has been converted into a bed and breakfast. It is decorated in its original Queen Anne style. A full seven course breakfast is served each morning. The house can accommodate up to 14 guests, has a fully equipped kitchen and a fenced lawn for lawn games.
