1) Hard Boiled - One of the two movies (The Killer) that put John Woo on the map. He hasn't done anything close to these masterpieces. Amazing story lines and Chow Yun Fat at his finest.
2) Oldboy - Korean movie that is just plain sick. This is a violent movie at times that is just brutal. One of the best movies I saw last year.
3) Audition - Japanese movie that is appalling in the premeditation. It's a seemingly normal movie for about 50 minutes then WHAM! like a ton of bricks, beware of the sack...
4) Shaun of the Dead - Simply a great piece of film. A little of everything for everybody. I watched this film back to back cause I couldn't believe how well done it was.
5) Battle Royale - Japanese movie and a take on Lord of the Flies. Children killing children is at its finest in this film.
6) Red Dawn - Finally an American movie in the top ten and this movie is in there strictly for nostalgic purposes. At the time it was in the Guinness World book of Records for the most violent film (check the edition a year after it was made). Plus the mullet returns with good ol' Patrick Swayze.
7) Kill Bill Volume 1 - C'mon like him or hate him, Quentin's Crazy 88's vs. Uma is classic already.
8) Slither - Seriously it was a fun horror movie with some decent gore. Honestly sit down and watch this.
9) Jason X - Man I bet some of you are reading this and are wondering if I know anything about horror movies. Not really but I know good movies and recognize good horror movies. Jason X however is not one of these. I watch this movie with friends Mystery Theater 3000 style. Try it, I mean really Jason in space, it doesn't get any better than that in the comedy world.
10) Braveheart - I guess to round out my list I give you this classic tale that gives you some decent violence. However, check out Apocolypto, it is amazing. I would have included this on the list but it's not out on DVD and is out of the theaters. Oh yeah, Mel's Passion was violent too but I stated before it had to be a good movie...
That's it for my top ten, check out my top ten blog on movies that make guys cry right here on helium.com.
