THE MOUNTAIN MAN

Kathryn Neff Perry
My son in all his infinite wisdom never ceases to amaze me.
He only wants to talk about guns or traps. He has hundreds of gun magazines everywhere.
He dreams of moving to Montana where he and his faithful dog can live in solitude in a one-room log cabin. He will be able to "live off the land."
I'm not sure what he'll do with the "day's catch" because he won't need a freezer or refrigerator because "it's always cold in Montana."
I know that living in a one-room house with a dirt floor won't bother him because he isn't aware that he has carpet on his bedroom floor.
Sometimes I worry, because at times he still seems so young and I'm not sure he's ready for the world out there. He tells me that he'll be moving in just a few months, as soon as he graduates.
Well, my faith has been restored in him. Just two nights ago you should have seen his cute little face when I brought him a kite, and what a sight, watching my mountain man and his dog fly his kite!
