The Movie Career of Will Smith

He is considered one of the best actors alive. He has taken roles of almost every category of movie. Will Smith is without a doubt a superb actor. With his latest film "I Am Legend" now in theaters it is a great time to look at his fabulous career.

Smith's film career started with a dramatic role in film called Six Degrees of Separation. However it was his appearance in the movie Bad Boys that jumped started his movie career. Along side Martin Lawrence, Smith played a Miami Cop who was clearly a 'bad boy.' The movie was hugely successful and lead to other great roles.

Will Smith's appearance in the movie Independence Day was outstanding. The 1996 film is one of the biggest grossing films of all time. It lead to many calling Smith "Mr. 4th of July." Will would soon follow with an appearance in the film Men in Black. This was another super 4th of July flick and it also led to Smith returning to the rap world with his appearance on the soundtrack, and later with a solo album. Smith would eventually do two more Men in Black Films making millions on each.

One of Smith's biggest moments came with his performance in the movie Ali. This movie saw Smith transform himself into legendary boxer Muhammad Ali. Along with a great cast that included Jamie Foxx and his wife Jada Pickett, Smith gained his first nomination for an Oscar in a lead role. Smith has yet to receive this honor but was nominated one more time for his role in the film Pursuit of Happyness. This 2006 film saw Smith portray legendary stockbroker Chris Gardner.

Smith has had an amazing career seeing him gross hundreds of millions of dollars from his films. He is one of the few actors who has started as a music star and crossed over to major success in the film world. He has demonstrated incredible work ethic and shown the ability to totally transform himself. He has returned to the sitcom world with the development of his own show on UPN called "All of Us." This series is based on Smith's own life early in his career.

Will Smith is a one of a kind actor. With his new film I am Legend, he is set to have huge success once again. It should be only a matter of time before he receives a Grammy for a lead role. Smith's film I Am Legend is currently in theaters now. Look for two brand new films in 2008. Both Time Share and Hancock, his new films in 2008, will take his career to even higher levels.
