The Murder of an Innocent Puppy: Help Stop Cruelty Toward Animals

Alex P
In Australia of October 2008, a mutilated puppy was found at the site of a car accident. When police officers seized the mobile phone of the victims, they found that they were no victims at all. The mobile phone held a horrifying video of the torture, mutilation, and murder of this 7-month-old terrier named "Peanut". Police also found a pair of garden shears with hair and blood on them, and took possession of the clothes of the two suspects. When senior officers finally viewed the video, they were shocked by what they saw.

Animal rights experts have called this the "most horrific [case of animal cruelty] in Australian history." The video revealed that the two men used garden shears and a pocket knife to cut at the puppy, torturing it before they finally killed it. They first stole the puppy from a house in Railway Parade, Moranbah. Then, they cut off the limbs of the puppy, including its right leg and rear left leg. Then decapitated it. Then cut open its stomach from head to tail. Then cut off it's nose. And then they dumped it on the side of the road. Throughout the torture, the yelps and barks of the puppy are scattered throughout the video, while it was still alive.

Despite all of this, the two men only face a maximum of two years in prison or a $75,000 fine for the murder and torture of the puppy. And, to top it off, they are pleading not guilty by reason of mental instability. These two men have committed a heinous crime and should not have any possibility of being found innocent. Let's all take a few moments to do our part and ensure that these murderers are locked away.

What can I do?
Most importantly: Tell everyone you know about this and let them know what they can do to help.

To put all of our minds to rest, let's make sure these two men face the harshest penalty possible.

This is sad. It is so good to know that no one actually gets away with a crime. It is all seen and registered. There is an accounting.

I just registered and signed the petition you gave a link to, thank you for letting us know about this horrible act. Although it is difficult to read because it is such a horrible crime, it is one people need to hear about and take action on. Thank you so much.
