The Mystery of Alvin Greene

Who is or who was Alvin Greene. I guess I should have voted in our GOP in the South Primaries!? But it continually miffs me when I have to identify myself as a Democrat or a Republican. Because I am staunchly a independent. We (independents) even made a big fuss about it some years ago during a General election here in South Carolina. Many of us were about to boycott the vote because of having to declare a party. So now in the General election if memory serves me correctly we can vote for any party including Libertarian,Green, United Citizens and so on. But before I start getting off course let me share some update about the illustrious and dubious (is that the right word) Mr. Greene. In Britain they would say Mr. Greene is "all the rage" ( the big topic everywhere) including worldwide and maybe in Britain. Even here also. Today I was listening to him on(The PA Bennet Brown Show) one of the many local talk shows in our state.PA was really asking him the tough questions: such as where did you get your money? Mr. Greene states it was saved up when he was in the military. How do you explain how you won? How'd you get so many votes if you were unknown? We worked hard. (But who were the we???) PA asks Mr. Greene who is going to support you when you run against Senator Jim Demint. (A very well known and popular Republican Senator here in SC). Mr. Greene states that he has money and he is raising more. He gave a website something like Alvingreene.com or something like that. As far as I know he is living at home with his father. He is or was unemployed. But he managed to secure $10,000.00 dollars for his filing fee. Some have asked including PA why would he basically waste this money to run for Senator when he could use it to help out his unemployment situation. Then there are more questions. Like and I will call her Virginia which is her real name. I am proud every time she calls in to a local station or gets lucky to get through on a national show. She continues to pursue the topic of the medical circumstances concerning Alvin Greene as in was that why he was discharged. And Mrs. Virginia whose husband served 21 years in the military, asks Mr. Greene what do your discharge papers state as to the involuntary nature of your general discharge under honorable conditions? And folks Mrs. Virginia can see a snow job a mile away because she has lots of experience serving herself in the military as a civilian who knows about the military to include job performance,job MOS(Army) and AFSC (Air Force),medical issues and the In's and outs of the military. When she hangs up the phone I feel that she still hasn't got the answers she, I and many of us are looking for. The transparency we need to support or not support him if we so choose in November. And maybe it is not nice but a local alternative newspaper, The Free-Times poked fun at him and put him on the front cover with the headline,"The Manning-Churian Candidate,a parity spin off the movie THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE. You see Mr. Greene is from Manning SC. In fact when he found out he won I believe it was reported that he was at home in Manning in his bed-room slippers??? Now contrast that with our soon to be Mayor Attorney Steve Benjamin,who fought a tireless campaign against a popular City councilman,Kirkman Finlay to win the seat as Mayor. On a side-bar I plan to ask my new Mayor hopefully in person to present the key to the city to the late and great Ms. Eartha Kitt. If he can do it posthumously. I mentioned Ms. Kitt for 2 reasons. I am a lifelong fan of Ms. Kitt and by fate I ended up being stationed at Shaw Air Base in this state in 1989 not even knowing that Eartha Kitt was born here in the city of North. With that being said when he lost her life I immediately called then Mayor Bob Coble in hopes he'd proclaim a special recognition for Ms. Kitt. He did nothing. Bare with me I will connect the dots back to US Senator hopeful Alvin Greene. Since the Mayor did nothing I called the Lieutenant Governor and the Governor they did nothing. Finally I found a sympathetic defender of my Eartha Kitt crusade the Honorable Gilda Cobb-Hunter (D) Representative of Orangeburg and in tandem (D) Representative Bakari Sellers also of Orangeburg. And they are "spot-on" working this issue for me. Now I am not afraid after all this time to keep supporting these courageous and tireless lawmakers no matter how long it takes because I feel Ms. Eartha Kitt will get her justice and long overdue recognition that she commands in all parts of our world but sadly not in South Carolina. I will fight in a peaceful way to get Ms. Kitt's honor. But for Alvin Greene I am not so sure. Granted he served in the Air Force and the Army. He has a degree from the University of South Carolina. He was in Air Force Intelligence not sure what is Army MOS was? Some (his friends,colleagues and associates ) say he's a cracker-jack when it comes to talking about sports or politics. He's in his element. But to hear him speak....in a word "articulate.!" Sure you can talk slow and have long pauses. A good way to keep people off balance. But is this strategy from Mr. Greene or is that really him. And if it is? Is it a mental problem? Nobody is perfect we are just asking for Mr. Greene to be more transparent. This" letter" writing author even has my own demons so to speak I have to keep at bay. But I am not running for a chance to unseat a US Senator. Which brings me to my closing remarks of this opinion essay and yes it is my opinion!!! Please research this candidate and the information I have provided. So you can draw your own conclusions for or against Mr. Greene. In closing. Though I have never ran for any political office,politics is a cruel mistress. For Mr. Greene to stay in this race he will have to allow as much as is possible his world to be turned inside out. Including overcoming the criminal strikes he has pending against him they can be overcome and perhaps they will be. And if he overcomes these. Others will dig up whatever they can find to seeing in my opinion what has he been up to in his life from his birth in Manning up to the present. What did he do in Korea? Good or bad? What did he do in the Army? Good or bad? What was life like at the University of South Carolina for him? How did and does he treat his family including his father? Is the money he has gotten in his campaign all legitimate from his supporters? And of course you have your own questions??? Will he still rise to the occasion and be able to wage a successful campaign against Jim Demint? Will he even be able to defeat Jim Demint? He wants to debate Senator Demint. Will he win the debate. What is in store for this man of mystery??? Stay tuned!
