Some of us grew up in the eighties as kids. Music and dancing were the best parts. There was Band Stand and a Dance Fever, show casing each couple's unique dance technique, is judged and then claim recognition.
You must be my lucky star sang Madonna as she twirls about onscreen wearing her own fashion of loose fitting clothes like Michael and his sequined gloves and gold-lined jacket resembling prince charming. Music and dancing go hand in hand and the majority of pop music back in those days never fails to incorporate them into the act. Music then too was powerful yet so close to innocent that they're rated for general audience. Who says "cool" is you acting crazy swearing up and down as if that was the only language in the dictionary. Family life was good when you're able to share a TV show together young and old alike.
Though Michael is 15 years my senior, hey I like older men, their maturity, he was my first crush when I saw his Beat It video. He was good looking and so is the rest of his family, but then the Bad album came out with its first single video release. The new look of Michael Jackson, my first reaction to it was "ok he look's different but not bad looking", so far so good, although he wasn't at all unattractive before. I questioned it in my head why, why did he change his look like why did Susan Boyle get a makeover.
I enjoyed all of Michael's videos. When he speaks it's odd to hear him, but when he sings he sounds like something else but better and of course his dancing, groovy and sexy moon walking robotic rhythm all his own. The way he looks and flirt at women and moves in his videos with suaveness that melts your heart. It's ashamed we never witness his passionate kisses and embrace like others in videos we see today. This mystery is like good chocolate so addictive you want more. Though others accused him of being gay, in all his videos his aura reflects that of a man with a love for women, but when he speaks he is an angel of sincerity and hope with much giving to the world. He never acted violent or purposely got into trouble.
In some way I understand what Michael had gone through, growing up I had to deal with something similar, discrimination, bullies, being put down, and name-calling. I lost people in my life and grew up without the love of a parent. Being of a different color I was often teased. I'm neither graceful or outspoken or attractive, but over time I learned to cope on my own. It might take an experience to two of acting weird and nerdy, but it is believe that you make your own destiny. It's harder however for someone as famous as Michael, to take it all in because only people who care so much about the world are the ones most sensitive and can fatally be affected by dishonest social criticism, which destroyed Michael's well being and life. May he rest in peace.
