The Myth that Import Cars Have Higher Quality

Do import cars have high quality that American cars? There has never been any proven fact that shows the importers build their car to a high quality standard then the American automakers. People have said for years that they do; but never seen any empirical evidence to suggest that it's the truth.

They build their cars out of the same materials as we do; plastic, glass, sheet metal, and wiring. In my opinion this was just started by somebody who for whatever reason didn't like the American automakers.

If the importers built cars to a higher quality standard that we do; it would have been proven by now. You have really got to think about it these days; with Toyota's accelerator pedals sticking top the floor; you have got to wonder how true it all is.

I never believed any of it in the first place; I have always said that American cars are the best. I have spent a lot of time looking for the answer to how this all started; and have never found a thing yet. It's true that in the 1980's, and the 1990's the American automaker had some issues.

Their quality did go down a bit then, but the quality of the imports suffered during those years also. I love American cars, and I will always stand up for American made products; rather it's a car, or anything else; I like to buy American when I can.

I have worked in the automotive industry in one facet, or another for most of my life. I have repaired all kinds of cars during this time; I have seen problems with both American, and import cars. I'm here to tell you, we did not do less repair work on import cars then American cars.

I personally think that every American should drive an American made car. The big three build great cars these days, and they offer better warranties then the importers do. This indicates to me that they have more confidence in their products then the importers do.

I have not had problem one with my 2009 Dodge Ram; it's a great truck. I have owned import cars in the past, and have never understood why people think that they are so great. Look at this; Toyota wants NASA to help them fix their accelerator pedals; NASA is an American company.

By them wanting to use NASA to help them fix this problem; it shows that they know that we do things at least as good as they do. There really is no reason for any import car company to out sell our Automakers; it just doesn't make any sense.

I have been out doing some reading on this issue; I think people will always be fooled by the importers. When you go to research on this issue; you hear all of these Americans bad mouthing American cars. It is just a sad fact that Americans like to bash their own country, buy an American car now!

They wonder why I call them anti-American when they talk about our country the way that they do. They say things like the stupid Americans don't know; they are all fools. Yes it makes me think that they just hate their country, if you hate your country; why would you like it's products.

It's time to think American people; not say things like Americans are stupid. They can be fooled in to doing anything; Americans aren't stupid, we are a trusting people; if a friend tells us it's a good thing, we might try it. From now on Americans; look in to it before you buy it, and buy American.
