The Newest Electric Car Being Made by Tesla Motors: The Model S Sedan

Tesla Motors has announced that they will be manufacturing another model of all electric car, The Model S Sedan.

Their previous model, The Roadster was a two seater.It's an all electric vehicle, with 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds, and can travel 244 miles on a single charge.The reservation fee is a refundable deposit of $9,900.00.Total price is $109,000.00 They have since produced and delivered 250 Roadsters.

The new Model S Sedan is estimated to begin production in 2011 with deliveries to begin in 2012. The reservation fee for the Model S is $5,000. The total cost of the electric vehicle is $57,000.But since it is an all electric vehicle, it qualifies for a federal tax cut of $7,500.00 It has two trunks, one in the front and one in the rear of the vehicle.It is charged by a battery and with an upgraded battery pack can travel 300 miles on a single charge.That means a lot of savings by not having to visit the gas pump.The Model S is a family car that seats 5-7 passengers, and is cheaper in cost than their sports model The Roadster.The cars designer is Franz von Holzhausen.Tesla expects to produce over 20,000 of these vehicles annually. The top of the line batters has about 8,000 cells and can recharge the car in about 4 hrs at a cost of around $5.00. At the current gas prices, that means a hug saving of about $15,000. The company is using federal loans for production of the vehicles, so each Model S sold comes with a $7,500 federal tax cut.

Already the company is recieving orders for a car not even in production yet, to date they have recieved 520 orders.The car will be in production in late 2011.More and more consumers are looking into EV's, stands for Electric Vehicles, as a way to cut down on emissions and save money by not buying gas.The market appeals to two different groups of people, those who are looking for Green Transportation, and those who are looking to save money.Although the total cost of the car is considerably more than the average size family sedan costing between $25,000-$30,000. The higher cost due to using Lithium Ion Batteries.The difference will be in savings on gas, emissions and maintenance costs. The Tesla Motor company, named for Nikola Tesla an electronic engineer, is leading the race in electric car production. The company expects to produce a third vehicle later on that will be an economy model.
