The Next Great Movie Series from These Great Books

A Couple of Book Series that May Give the Movie Industry a Challenge

I am by no means a movie director or a movie critic nor am I in anyway a casting director, but when ask what books may make a good storyline for a movie I have to give my vote to these series of books I find both exciting and heart wrenching. As an avid reader and movie lover I think that these two book series would make great movies for entertainment but also be a challenge for the directors, actors and special affects crews.

Kim Harrison's book series starting with Dead Witch Walking; The Good The Bad and The Undead; Every Which Way But Dead; A Fistful of Charms; For a Few Demons More; the Outlaw Demon Wails and White Witch Black Curse.

These books could be gathered together to make two full-length movies, directed by Steven Spielberg and stars to play the parts of Rachel, the witch bounty hunter with attitude by Kate Beckinsale. Ivy the live in Vampire who is loved by the city of Cincinnati's master vampire Percey to be played by Elizabeth Reaser and their combined lover vampire Kisten to be played by Peter Facinelli. There is also a lively little pixie and a few elves thrown in the mix along with a pack or two of ware wolves. Running the City of Cincinnati's bounty hunter business located in the Hallows where the Inderlanders (anyone not human) have made their homes.

These other world creatures have survived what the writer refers to as the Turn, a period of time when genetically enhanced tomatoes caused a virus that all but wiped out the human race making the vampires, ware wolves, witches, pixies, fairies, and gargoyles as the largest number of living beings in the world. Hunting these creatures of nightmares when they do not adhere to the laws of the world is what Rachel is all about well that and finding a balance while living with a vampire and sleeping with one too.

Another great book to movie idea comes to mind with James Patterson's book Maximum Ride The Angel Experiment. This futuristic book series takes us to a time when scientists are trying to make human's genetically enhanced to take over the world and control the dangers our society has created. By genetically enhancing children in the lab and mixing human DNA with avian DNA the scientists create Max a beautiful girl who has the bones, metabolism and wings of a large bird. Along with Fang, Gassy, Angel, Iggy and Nudge. Throughout the total series of books from Maximum Ride The Angel Experiment there is also Maximum Ride, Schools Out Forever; Maximum Ride, Saving the world and Other Extreme Sports; Maximum Ride, The Final Warning; MAX and FANG.

Fly with the flock of children through their struggles to find out what The School did to them and why, search for their parents, fight their enemies and along the way meet the wonder dog Total (he can talk and even grows wings along the way). Feel the Flocks fear and struggles and the great relief they feel when they reach the end of their struggles.

Actors and Actresses for these parts could be cast as

Dakota Fanning - Max (Maximum)
Robert Pattison - Fang
Amanda Michalka - Angel
Cole Sprouse and Dylan Sprouse - Iggy and Nudge
Mitchel Musso - Gassy
Zac Efron - Ari
Nicolas Cage as the mad scientist - Jed Batchelder
Ashley Green - Dr. Martinez (Max's mom)

I've read a few of the Max books. Definitely a detour for Patterson. I know a lot of people love him, but at some point I found his writing predictable and sounding like it was phoned in.

Cool ideas. I'm a Kate Beckinsale fan. And can picture Cage now playing character parts like mad scientists.

It will be interesting to see how Dakota Fanning does as an adult.

Good ideas! Anything featuring a vampire would do well!

I have always thought the "Gun Slinger" series by Steven King would make a great movie. I imagine a young Clint Eastwood as Roland. Just thinking about it makes me want to reread my set.
