The Next President of the United States Is...Sen. Obama? Sen. Clinton? or Sen. McCain?

Mary E. Coe

We have three strong presidential candidates still in the running for president of the United States. However, we need more than strong; we need someone who will serve the best interest of the people. We need a change from what we now have in the White House. All three candidates make a powerful speech. We need more than a good speaker to run this country. We need someone who is sincere and not someone who is just saying anything that will land him/her in the White House. Who is more sincere? Who will deliver when he/she is elected to serve as our commander-in-chief? Who will end the war in Iraq and bring the troops home?

I spend a lot of time watching CNN, and other TV news concerning our presidential candidates. I listen to the radio. I go on the internet to see what each candidate is all about. I do my own research to find out all I can about each candidate.

I look for; how each candidate stands on the issues, including: Gas prices; Seniors; Health Care; Veterans; Immigration; Education; Crime; Ethics and Lobbying Reform; Energy; Homeland Security; Tax Reform: Iraq War; Foreign Policy; Environment; Defense; Responsible Government Spending. Who will look out for the working men/women? Who will end the war in Iraq and bring our troops home?

In my opinion, Sen. McCain in on the wrong track. I was strongly turned off by Sen. McCain when he suggested keeping the troops in Iraq for 100 years. Recently, he changed his story and said that, by the end of his first term; we will see an end to the Iraq war. Do we have to wait 4 years to see a possible end to the Iraq war? Sen. McCain has a lot of experience; however, sometimes a lot of experience can come with a lot of doing the same old thing over and over again. We need a change.

Sen. Clinton is a fighter for what she believes in. She feels she is the stronger candidate to beat Sen. McCain. She says that she has the advantages and is leading in popular votes. And she has the experience. However, I am not ready to cast my vote for Sen. Clinton. I'm not feeling very comfortable with her as president.

I believe in Obama. He will have my vote. I was undecided for a while. However, I have made up my mind. I believe Sen. Obama is capable of winning this presidential race. I believe Obama is sincere and will be the best commander-in-chief. I listened carefully to what his views are on the issues. Obama is on the right track. I feel he is the best candidate for next president of the United States.

I was appalled by the remark President Bush made in his speech in Israel. I was appalled that he used the word "appeasement" toward Obama; especially to make such a remark in a foreign country. That was outrageous. I feel that if I vote for John McCain; I will be voting for another four years of a lot of things that President Bush stands for and we need a big change.

I am confident that Sen. Obama will not tolerate terrorist. I am, also, equally confident that Sen. Clinton will not tolerate terrorist. It was a very bad judgment call, by President Bush, to use the word appeasement toward any Democrats.

We will never find a perfect candidate for president. All of the candidates come with some baggage; however, we need one that will serve the best interest of this country. I believe Obama is that man. I believe Obama will make the best president.

We have three strong presidential candidates in the running for commander-in-chief; all of us have our opinion of who will make the next best president. We all have good points to support our decision.

We are positive of one thing. Our next president will be either Sen. Obama; Sen. Clinton or Sen. McCain. It seems like it is all over for Sen. Clinton, however, she is still in the race and we have to respect that fact. She is still hoping for a 3 point shot at the buzzer. She has the right to stay in this race until the end. She did win a lot of States. She has high hopes of winning more States. She feels it's not over until it's over. We must admit Sen. Clinton is a fighter. I'm hoping that when it's all over; that the right candidate for the job will be elected for President of the United States. My choice is Obama.

Bravo! Alyce, you made some excellent and important points. I agree with you; I especially like the beginning sentence "she will fight" for what she wants. Thanks very much for your feedback.

What you say "she will fight" for what she wants. She does not care what the citizens want. Iran is a good example. She called her yes vote "lies being spread" by her "enemies" (Jan.), and that Iran was "fantasize and makeup". She complained about Move On Dot Org endorsing Senator Obama instead of her, because "they know I do not agree with them about the war". Her mandatory health insurance with government penalty~either fines or garnished wages~seems to go against the Constitution which guarantees citizens "liberty" or freedom of choice. She said in an early debate that the government has to lie to the people. She told many lies during her campaigning. I question the legality of a two term president~impeached!~being allowed back in the White House for his "buy one, get on free" return to his idyllic 1990s co-presidency. If Senator Clinton cared about the citizens, she would have not run for President.

I really like the way you wrote this up Mary! I am not one to give my polictical views out, other then with family or close friends. I guess I was never one to really get into debating politics. But I feel you wrote this in a very responsible manner and enjoyed reading it very much! 5 stars to you hun!

Great job and very well balanced way of showing your thoughts. I personally am for Clinton. I do not agree with Obama on a lot of things. I also think that he seems like too much of a good speaker. If he follows through with all of the things that he says, then he may be the best president that we have ever had, but that's a big if. However, I will be voting for him if it comes down to him and McCain. We do not need another "Bush" - or someone like Bush, in office again.

To J. P. Whickson, Kim Linton, and Lisa Renee I agree with you on the partial birth and the late term abortion. Actually, I am pro-life. I don't believe in abortion. I don't agree with the partial birth or long term abortion, no way. As far as McCain is concerned, he "Flip-Flop" on the subject of abortion. I really don't know his views on the subject. I don't look to the president for religious guidance. For that, I go to my church and my bible. All of the presidential candidates come with baggage. No doubt about about it; we are going to get either Sen. Clinton, Sen. Obama, or Sen. McCain. I'm leaning toward the one who will end the war and help the working class people and other issues I've looked at to help me decide. I still believe that Predident Bush should not have used the word "appeasement" toward the Demoncrats, especially in a foreign country. Thanks to all three of you for your honest comment. I appreciate it more than you can imagine. I keep an open min

Great article, Mary. I keep changing my mind from month to month. This is a tough race without a clear frontrunner. My brother voted Democrat in the Virginia primary for the first time in his life! I have always been Democrat, but leaning to McCain. I just watched a YouTube video on McCain that makes me want to sway back to Obama. Who knows what will happen by November. It is great that you have your vote decided.

I am neutral when it comes to politics. All I can say is that time will tell who wins the race to the White House.
