The Night

Gene Kiernan
It was a dark and dreary night
As she locked the house up tight

The ghostly wind was blowing
As the darkness just kept growing

When she laid the kids to bed
She was hit by an awful feeling of dread

As she left the children's room
The feeling began to consume

The sounds of footsteps could be heard
For this her feelings were stirred.

She ran to the window to see
Where these sounds could be

She saw a shadow dart passed
Which made her drop to the floor fast

Now hearing the footsteps near the front door
This is something she just couldn't ignore

She ran to grab the phone
Only to find she was without dial tone

Just then, the door was kicked in
As an intense man walked in wielding a grin

When she began to run
The man pulled his gun

He proceed to throw her down by her hair
While giving her a most evil stare

"Why me,Why us"
"Take what you want. I won't put up a fuss"

The man instructed her to close her eyes
This is when her eyes began to let out cries.

As the man took a swing
He whispered "You won't feel a thing"

She woke not knowing where she was
Her head all a fuzz

Handcuffed to a slab
Feeling as though she was stabbed

She realizes she will never see her kids again
Now she knows she will surely be slain
