The Night of Nights

Håvard Hegtun
As twilight sinks upon us
The mist is drawing thick
The moon so cold and faceless
Is calling us to rise
The dead, the twisted, and the sick
Our common curse is ageless
We have no use for treats
We're called to scare and trick

A year has past in slumber
The night of nights is back
The time and place for malice
It's Halloween tonight
We haunt, we murder, and we hack
Then gather at the palace
To hail the king of fright
Our lord tonight is Jack

We walk among the living
On this the sacred night
They celebrate our torment
Try to look like us
Imagine they can know our plight
Know not that we lament
Our only night of freedom
Ends at the break of light

The mortals eat their loot up
They fill their restless hole
Stuff them self with candy
Til they almost die
While we scramble for their soul
That is fine and dandy
Eat your precious sugar
We'll eat your children whole
