The No. 10 Thomas Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with an array of choices from simple and inexpensive to high class and pricey.
Upon entering the restaurant you are caught off guard by believing that due to the atmosphere it would be for the business dressed, but this is not correct at all. The staff is wonderful, warm, and friendly, not to mention accommodating to any alterations to food requests.
Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day and at the No. 10 Thomas Restaurant you truly have the option to make it filling and hearty. From breakfasts such as the normal eggs and sausage combos to breakfast buffets or even oatmeal, the choice is yours. I had the pleasure of having the eggs and sausage combo breakfast that was around $10 the first morning I had stayed at the Washington Plaza Hotel and was very impressed by how fresh and delicious the meal was. The next morning I had the displeasure of having the $10 oatmeal breakfast, which was not very good at all. The bowl of oatmeal was large and came with a side of raisins, almonds, brown sugar, fruit, and yogurt. It took all of the condiments provided, minus the yogurt, to add flavor to the bland oatmeal.
Unfortunately I did not try the breakfast buffet option for $23 which included an assortment of hot and cold breakfast items. The waiter informed us that all of the waffles were made fresh so they were not added to the buffet and to order them with him and they would bring them out to you. This type of service is definitely something that you're not used to when going to a buffet provided restaurant.
Lunch was a meal that unfortunately I did not have a chance to try. The lunch menu prices were $6 to $22 and included a variety of appetizers, salad selections, flat bread pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, and full entrees such as rainbow trout, duck, steak, chicken, and pastas.
The dinner menu was full of the same selections as lunch except for the addition of a larger array of entrees including crab cakes, salmon, lamb chops, and mussels. I couldn't avoid ordering the Chesapeake Crab Cakes that were amazing. Two perfect portions of lump crab cakes that were lightly battered with a ragout of sweet corn, Yukon potatoes, and mushrooms. Honestly, by the time you finished the crab cakes, your stomach may not have room for the side. The meal was completely worth the $26. The dinner menu prices ran from $6 to $26.
You always have to have dessert right? The No. 10 Thomas Restaurant has a small dessert menu of seven items including strawberry shortcake, crème brule, chocolate cake, apple pie, cheesecake, banana cheesecake, and ice cream. Being a chocolate lover, the cake was my choice, and what a choice it was! This chocolate cake was $6 and well worth it! The dessert portions are huge, enough for two to three people to share. The chocolate cake was very decadent and served with strawberries, raspberries, and whipped cream. Enough to satisfy any sweet tooth for days!
I highly recommend dining at the No. 10 Thomas Restaurant at the Washington Plaza Hotel. The atmosphere and delicious food, not to mention the affordable prices, will keep you coming back for more!
