The Noggin is an educational television channel that is for preschool kids. Each show on this channel is to help preschoolers learn necessary skills such as learning how to get along with people, early literacy skills, logical thinking skills, how to deal with your emotions, and many more. The Noggin airs from 6am to 6pm eastern standard time, Monday thru Friday in the US. After 6pm, the Noggin station becomes 'The-N' which are shows geared towards young teenagers. I don't believe that the Noggin station is available on regular television or even basic cable, but many of the shows on this channel can also be found on Nickelodeon. Noggin is available on digital cable and satellite. Make sure you check with your local cable provider for more information on how to find or get the Noggin channel if you don't already have it.
Noggin is also available online with fun games for your children. Like the television channel, Noggin's online games are all educational. There are many word puzzles, arts and craft exercises, and many other games that are good for your preschool children. Noggin Online also has many songs from some of your child's favorite shows. The goal of all of the Music on Noggin is to give preschoolers an understanding of music and its many elements. To learn more about Noggin, you should visit http://www.noggin.com.
Here are a few of my choice shows that air on the Noggin station:
My daughter's favorite show is the Backyardigans. This show is all about imagination, song and dance, and problem solving. The Backyardigans are a group of friends who create a world full of adventure from there own backyards. Another show based on imagination and problem solving is the animated series Pinky Dinky Doo. Pinky Dinky Doo is a little girl who uses her imagination to help her friends solve problems. Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends is another one of my little girl's favorite shows. This animated show is based on Miss Spider and her family full of different animated insects and there many adventures in the woods. Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends teaches preschoolers the lessons on emotion and how to deal with other people socially. Another good show is Oswald, a big blue Octopus who is learning how to live on his own. The Oswald show teaches preschoolers necessary lessons such as getting along with others, sharing, and respect.
There are many shows on Noggin that are very good for children and necessary for them to learn at a young age. We all know how fast kids pick up on things they see and how easy it is for them to misinterpret what they get from television. I definitely recommend Noggin for anyone with small children.
