First of all you need to consider the setup. The front of the Nokia Surge is a touch screen. You navigate everything by touch. Like most of the touch screen phones out there if you have large fingers, you might encounter some difficulty with the phone.
The Nokia Surge keyboard slides up and is backlit. I found this to be useful when using the phone in the dark. Not that I do a lot of texting, but the keyboard actually works for me.
The Nokia Surge even has certain keys dedicated to specific functions. Like the message key and the email setup wizard. All you have to do is enter in your email address and password and you are ready to rock and roll! Not only that, but you can send email and messages at the same time, just as if you were on your computer and the internet at home.
The screen on the Nokia Surge is small at a 2.4 inch 320 x 240 resolution display, but it gets the job done. Even despite its small size apps loads quickly. They load a lot more quickly than you might expect from a small screen.
Music playback is relatively easy, and provides a good sound on the Nokia Surge. The Media Net web browser loads web pages with ease. However you do have to pay for the privilege so be aware that nothing comes free.
The Nokia Surge also has a 2.0 mega pixel digital camera that has 4x digital zoom. The zoom feature is one I had not seen on a mobile phone before, and comes as a welcome addition. The camera is also capable of recording video as well.
With the Nokia Surge you won't need a separate GPS device for your car. The Surge comes with GPS technology that gives you turn by turn directions to get you where you need to go.
Currently, AT&T is offering the Nokia Surge for $49.99 through its website. This comes with a caveat though. You have to agree to a 2 year contract. If this doesn't faze you then go for it. The Nokia Surge is a decent phone with a lot of good features to recommend it.
