German engineering...
American Innovation...
All these things have come together, creating the perfect storm of technological wonder, and giving rise to the latest brainchild of the best minds on two continents - Saturn's newest model, the 2008 Astra.
The Astra, pictured here, is the most advanced vehicle General Motors has ever created. It replaces the Ion, and, even though the price tag is slightly higher, features all kinds of nifty do-dads that its predecessor sorely lacked.
Yet the most amazing thing of all about the Astra, the end result of hundreds of thousands of man-hours of creative development, is that this "all-new" semi-luxury vehicle (it runs on gas - luxury) happens to be the 2001 Ford Focus (pictured below).
Yes, originality may be dead, but, if Hollywood is any guide, adaptation (read: plagiarism) is alive and well.

Post a CommentThe Opel Astra has been around probably as long as the Focus and if not mistaken they were developed by the same design team in Germany so the difference is not very big. There is no US innovation here since the car was a brainchild of Opel Germany, they just decided to repackage it under the Saturn moniker for the US market.
Very nice, not to mention all the cars are made of plastic now. Where are all the metal cars?
Wow, there isn't a lot of difference, is there?
Such a pretty car!
