Emotions have taken control, and you believe they're a normal part of life, but they're not. You don't have to give into your emotions, ever. That goes for in your marriage, on your job, and when you're eating. You can deny being controlled. And as soon as you do that, you'll be on your way to a successful weight loss diet.
But here's the problem: It's really hard to deny your emotions. That's because most of the time, you don't realize when they've started to take over. For instance, you think you're eating because you're hungry when you really are just depressed or even a little sad. You forget to ask yourself if you really are hungry.
And then, if you come to the conclusion that you aren't hungry, you have to face that truth and find other ways to cheer yourself up without food. And sometimes, you just give in and say, well just this once. I'll eat it anyway. See how hard it can be? It takes all of that just to try and get you to stick to your weight loss diet.
Diets aren't a bad thing, but if you don't get up in the morning with a battle plan, you're going to get taken out. Here's what you can do to get proactive about controlling your emotions and finally succeeding in your weight loss plan:
Rehearse positive affirmations
Tell yourself that you can loose the weight and keep it off. Everyday, wake up and say you're worth it. Affirmations really do work, but you have to keep saying them.
Hang around people with similar goals
If you hang around people who continue to eat when they are sad or depressed, you won't stop your habits. While it's true these people may be your friends, it's not doing you much good to keep company with them while you're trying to reach your ultimate goal of losing weight. Instead, hang around thin friends and do what they do.
Envision yourself thin.
Get a good picture in yourself as you really want be, thin and fabulous. But don't just see the end. See a successful path to that end. See yourself eating salads and liking it. See yourself saying, " Oh no, I couldn't eat another bite," when you really could eat the whole kitchen table. Imagine yourself saying, "Oh no, I'm not hungry" when you could stand a taste of something, See those pictures everyday, and before you know it, when you get emotional, those images will override your usual method of escape, food.
So there you have it, the way to overcome the number one reason you haven't lost the weight.
