I enrolled at a gym late 2010 and I've been working out diligently. However, I noticed that I am building muscles but my excess weight is still there. I immediately knew that there's something wrong and it most likely has something to do with diet. Along with my 1 year membership in that gym, I thought of using my free nutritionist appointment so I went on with it last week.
The nutritionist told me to list the foods that I just ate the previous day and the usual stuff that I eat on a daily basis especially when I go to work. She told me that the main reason why I'm not losing weight is because of my diet. It was all wrong. I had a cheat day, I was eating only 2 full meals a day, I don't eat at work, I don't drink lots of water, I still eat fatty foods occasionally and so on.
Having a nutritionist will ensure that you have a very healthy diet based on your needs. They don't usually give you a pre-set meal plan but they actually device a specific meal plan depending on your lifestyle, budget, workout hours, food availability and so on. There are several factors that will be considered such as your work, school, income, availability of foods and time. She told me that proper diet and nutrition comprises 70 to 80 percent of a successful weight loss program.
They can monitor your progress especially if you have a long term goal. They can help you adapt to the new lifestyle and can easily adjust your program just incase you need to modify it in the middle. They will motivate you and push you to follow through on your diet plans.
However, even if you have a nutritionist guiding you, it will still depend if you follow what you've been told to do. Do not take cheat days. She said that they really do not recommend having one. And during the sessions, you should always be honest in what you've eaten and how you planned your meals. This way, they can develop a better and more effective diet plan for you.
I've been battling weight issues for years now and so far, the one that I really need to focus on is my diet and among the people that can help you, the nutritionist is probably the most beneficial. They are trained professionals and most likely had extensive educational background and even experience in this field. I recently applied what she taught me and I am steadily losing weight again.
