The Obama Administration

Executing the Vision

Steve Glenn
Today millions of Americans watch and depend on the activities of the president, but given the enormous problems facing the United States and the world, it impossible for one man to single handedly tackle the present economic and security crisis.

For this reason, the cabinet administration plays a vital role in the success of President Obama's vision. The cabinet is committed to executing policies that will assist the president in reestablishing the power and integrity of America. In the growing economic crisis, there are special projects that demand more attention than others. Financial turmoil, terrorism, national defense, and foreign policy issues loom larger than ever. But the key goals of President Barack Obama are to create millions of jobs and get consumer confidence back to an all time high.

All cabinet members perform important duties but some members have a higher level of responsibility than others. Her are a few of the key players:

Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers: Christina Romer

Since the economy is the must pressing issue on the American consciousness this council appears to be the most needed because of the reiterating conditions of the economy. Day by day Christina Romer has the task of reporting to the president the state of the worsening economic crisis. Over 5 million Americans have applied for unemployment compensation since the start of the recession. Many organizations and industries are either going out of business or cutting back because of lack of consumer spending and confidence. Foreclosures have become an epidemic.

Secretary of Homeland Security: Janet Napolitino

The security of the United States of American is the most important concern for this cabinet. Janet Napolitino's job is to execute policy that will protect the country from another terrorist attack such as the 9/11 assault on American soil. Rumors abound of another major terrorist attack on the United States in the future. But under the vigilance eyes of Napolitino any rumor will remain only a rumor.

Secretary of Defense: Robert Gates

Keeping the American military machine the most equipped and powerful armed force in the world is the job of Robert Gates. He commands all branches of the military and advises the president on all national and international issues regarding the United States military. The watchful eye of this cabinet observes all possible hostility around the world. Winning the war against Iraq and Afghanistan extremist are of the utmost importance.

Secretary of State: Hillary Rodam Clinton

The responsibility of this cabinet informs and advises the president on all foreign matters. The aim is to engage other nations regarding international issues. In fact, establishing good relations and discussing solutions to problems and affairs with representatives of foreign countries will help improve America's image and position in the world. Under the Obama administration the goal is the establish goodwill and trust with nations who may have last trust in the United States during the Bush Administration. The duty of this cabinet is also to warn those nations that might not have the best interest of humanity in their favor. Presently, Iran and North Korea are two such nations.

Vice President of the United States: Joe Biden

This cabinet is important because it can replace the activities of the president of the United States if there is a worst case scenario. If the president is impeached, assassinated, or too ill to govern the nation the Vice President can assume authority. Otherwise this cabinet performs whatever duties the president gives it.

The above Cabinets are key players in the immediate crisis of the world today. Their mission is executing the vision of President Barack Obama. In places he cannot be physically to confront the issues of the recession and other crisis, they are the extension of his eyes, ears, and convictions. Their assistance will be vital in bringing back the power, prosperity, and normalcy of the United States of America.
