The Obama Biden Ticket - Same Old Same Old

What a Shame

Louisa Burgess
Senator Joe Biden is a good ole boy. He is smart, he is a liberal Democrat, he's Irish Catholic, he's experienced. I like him so why am I furiously mad that he is Obama's Veep pick? I'm not the only one who is feeling negative. The NBC poll at msn.com says 48% to 38% that Obama made a bad choice. The AOL poll tonight indicates thumbs up to Obama's pick 53%, thumbs down 47%. Not a wide margin. AOL's poll numbers have been riding high for Hillary Clinton in the past few weeks, only last night 65% said Clinton was the best choice for VP. Well yes of course I wanted Clinton, to get the nod, but there are other reasons.

One, he's been in public office since he was 29 years old, he's 65 now. What happened to "change?" Did Obama mean all those things about bringing in a new guard? New policies, new government? Biden equals another white, middle aged man in power. Actually he is in power now so where is the change?

Second, while he is liberal like I like them (politicians), other than his foreign policy experience I'm not sure what he brings to the table or to the ticket in terms of votes. He has trouble it seems winning votes nationally, or other than in his home state.

Third, gotta love Joe Biden but he is the king of gaffes when giving a speech, not to mention that he was forced to exit the 1988 presidential primary after he was caught having borrowed portions of a speech by British Labor Party leader Neil Kinnock - without giving him credit. In 2006 their was his infamously embarrassing remark about Indians from India and 7-Elevens. Let's just say, Senator Biden is long winded and leave it at that.

Fourth, you know one thing I did think about Joe Biden is that he is a stand up guy, true to his word. Does anyone remember his Fox interview where he stated very clearly that he wasn't running for Vice President and wouldn't accept an invitation to run for it if it was offered to him? Maybe I'm being picky here, he is a politician after all.

Fifth, and I'm not going to go on and on about this one,Biden chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee from 1987 to 1995. Surely you all know Justice Clarence Thomas.

Sixth, and last for now, he's not a woman. Clearly Obama had a chance to make history by putting Clinton on the ticket. He blew it big time. Women are going to be pissed off. However, being women, they will do the right thing and go to the polls and vote. Who they will vote for now is anyone's guess, no matter what they say publicly.

Their are good, very good things about Senator Biden. He did after all write the Violence Against Women Act, a landmark domestic violence law. He's a good guy in many ways. He's just not going to create a sure ride to the White House for Democrats.

The Hillary Clinton issue is a big one. Sorry but it is. Say what you will but the woman took 18 million votes in the primary. The race was a virtual tie and she got shafted by the DNC. Women won't forget. Heck, I know men that are mad about it. If you have a daughter you should be mad about it too.

Shame on you Barack Obama.

Strange but there are ither countries where women are already power. look at Bachelet i Chile, Fernandez in Argentina and let's not forget the one in Germany (sorry forgot her name). Why it is so difficult to America to pick a Woman for presidency?

I still don't think this is a good idea and I'm really disappointed Hillary isn't on the ticket although I knew Obama wouldn't put her on it. I am also disappointed my crystal ball failed me that he didn't pick the other politician I thought he was going to choose.

Your article is the 4th or 5th I read about this, and I have never seen so many people disappointed in Obama until now! I guess it just proves my point that politicians is politicians!

I am not mad because I don't want Hill associated with this fraud or his stinky ticket. When he loses it will be him and his buddy same 'ol, same 'ol Joe Biden who will be pretty much over as far as Presidential races go. I want Hill to be back in there in 2012 and win!

Unless of course the super delegates decide to do the right thing and go with the candidate who can actually win.
