The Obama Healthcare Dance and Other Crazy Washington Antics

What Kind of Wool Are They Trying to Pull Over Our Eyes?

Rose Richmond
I have to say, in starting this article, I voted for Obama. Yea, I know...I still like Obama but feel like he is dancing way too fast here. I have been sitting for the last few minutes, listening to Arlen Specter in PA at a town hall meeting. I have listened to others at town hall meetings in the last week or so. What is going on here? Arlen Specter is calling numbers, giving short quick answers and being pretty bossy and pushy about the answers. Especially the tricky questions like, How will we pay for health care?, What about the single payer system?,and what about old sick people and others?

I like that Obama wants to fix things. I don't like that he is trying to cram it down our throats. One of the comments from this particular town hall meeting was, "why not put the bill in a language a seventh grader could understand"? I agree. Why does everything to do with Washington, have to be written in incomprehensible language? This is the twenty first century. We don't have to continue to talk and write like Thomas Jefferson.

America is so very tired of bullshit. It is tired of Washington. Tired of Congress and the Senate living the life and America being dumped on. Tired of intrusions, crazy laws, abuses of our money and our lives. Law after law written that only continues to hurt Americans. Why are we even considering the CAP and Trade Bill. Hasn't the manufacturing in this country pretty much devastated the Blue Collar World? Do we even manufacture anything here anymore?

Mr. Obama, you had America behind you when you went to Washington. We stood in lines, we listened to Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter try and destroy you, yet continued to support you. Now, you have gotten where you wanted to be and you are turning your back on America. You are dashing the hopes that you said we had. Nobody wants the health care plan you are peddling sir. We don't want the government in our lives anymore. What we want is for you to make Washington responsible. Get rid of the illegal aliens in this country that ARE taking jobs away. Make the financial institutions responsible and stop the bonuses.

Health care is in bad shape here. However, it is in bad shape because of corruption, fraud and bad management. If you want to do something to help health care. Stop the abuse. Put the companies, hospitals, and doctors in jail when they screw over people or overcharge the government for Medicare and Medicaid. Responsibility is the answer to health care reform, not intrusions in our lives and more rules and worse health care than we have already.

Mr. Obama, you can't fix everything by getting more involved in people's lives. You can't gain trust of America by trying to buy your way out of every problem. We need honest leadership in America, not more rules and intrusions. Let Americans run their lives. You fix Washington and the waste. Fix the abuses and the problems will fix themselves.

You are dividing America, instead of uniting them. It is getting worse not better. Please stop and think here. People like Arlen Specter and others bullying their way in these town halls isn't making things better. It only makes people angrier than they were already. He didn't give us any answers. He acted like he only showed up because he was told to. What benefit is that?

American's are very tired Mr. President and the people who supported you can't take the hit anymore. You aren't making their jobs any easier. Bad decisions have to stop or you might as well be George Bush. Is that the legacy you want to leave? Wake up, pay attention and stop trying to fix EVERYTHING sir...

This is no longer a debate.

Everything in Washington is written or stated in a way that the "common people" can't decipher. That's why in the last three presidential elections when I ran I pushed the fact that NOTHING will change until a "regular" person becomes President. Career politicians are all the same--"what will I gain from this and screw the people".

Yeah, I know, Sevastian, any legitimate criticism of Obama is a GOP lie!!! Rose, you did an awesome job, and are a perfect example of how someone can admire their president, and still have the temerity to call him out on his shortcomings. you are right, America is tired of being lied to again and again by both Repub and Dem! When will everyone realize that both parties are bought and paid for with corporate and big bank money? That's why they ignore the will of the people, and always do what Big Money wants them to! Yes, there is a healthcare crisis, and NO, letting gov't take it over is not the answer (how about some common-sense regulation). That's the problem; most conservatives want NO regulation ever, and most so-called 'Liberals' want to regulate every damn thing!

In North Texas, the AARP canceled its town hall meetings. I believe portions of these are on youtube. I'm not clear as to their reason for doing so other than the questions being asked.

Sorry Sevastian. I ain't Republican. I voted Democrat. I don't expect a Messiah...I expect common sense. I like Obama but he CAN'T fix the world. If he can't fix it, then wait until he has better ideas. Have you read the joke that is the Obama health care plan? It is not a fix, it is a new set of government intrusions. Sure we need health care, but what we need more is to fix what is there already, without more rules and government interference. Not a Republican argument, a US argument.

I totally agree, and this is why I don't even bother listening to political speeches and their empty promises. It's just the same ol' song and dance. And we wonder why half of America doesn't even bother voting.
