It is so sad and heartbreaking to see an eight year old child so obese they can barely walk, and nobody does anything about it, the parents sure don't, most of the time they are just as overweight themselves, you feel so sorry for these young kids and teenagers who don't know any better and eat the wrong food all the time.
True, eating healthy here in The States is very hard because most of the food is proccessed, greasy, unhealthy, and a number of other things, I lived in Africa for most of my life and I tell you the food there is ten thousand times more nutritious and healthy than American food.
Now I had always been a very skinny kid with never any fat on me.
I came to America for the first time when I was 12 and was here for only one month by the time I left I was 20 pounds heavier and my descent into becoming overweight started there.
It was all so new for me, all this delicious looking food drew me in and I stuffed my face around the clock, most of things I found and ate here you wouldn't even be able to find in Africa no matter how hard you looked for it, but here you wouldn't even have to walk more than 50 feet and you could be eating a delicious McDonalds burger, or a tasty Pancake drenched in maple syrup with whipped cream.
So for the next 3 years I was overweight and became very depressed like so many overweight people here in the States, and when an overweight person is depressed, what do they do?
THEY EAT MORE FOOD.
And the cycle never stops, this country needs a radical change. Right now the people in charge just want to make more money, and of course if you want to make an even bigger profit off of food you make it even more crappy, and less nutritional.
Oh but it has to taste good, so they fill it with so many artificial sweetners and perservatives that when you are eating it its not food you are eating, its chemicals.
Europe has real food which like a breath of fresh air compared to The US, I mean even salads here don't taste real.
This country needs to make serious changes.
It starts with YOU....

Post a Commentit because america is very lazy theses days and they don't give a freak what there kids look like
What you said is sooooo true, I took it to heart, and even though I weigh 60 kilos and am underweight and sickly thin.
I've still stopped eating at Mc donalds and have begun eating next door at Wendy's. I know I'm sacrificing a lot, but I don't want any of your praise. So here's to you Jason you've saved my life.
Good article but I feel the US has good food but the people don't adhere to it...they just have to have all the "crappy" stuff. Even going to an "all you can eat" place you can eat healthy...you don't have to choose all of the fatty foods, I don't.
again, great article...enjoyed it. Thanks!
