The Ojai Cook Lemonaise, a Lemon Flavored Gourmet Alternative to Mayonnaise

Candice W.
I love a good sandwich and a delicious sandwich spread can make it taste even better. One day while shopping in the grocery department of Meijer I ran across Lemonaise, made by The Ojai Cook.

Here is my review of The Ojai Cook Lemonaise, a lemon-flavored gourmet alternative to mayonnaise.

When I first saw the jar of Lemonaise I was intrigued because I had never heard of this gourmet product. Lemon-flavored Mayonnaise? Who knew?

There is a lemon on the front of the jar which makes it stand out. I like to try new things in the kitchen so I took a closer look at the jar. The Ojai Cook Lemonaise is all natural and can be used as an alternative to mayonnaise. I thought this would be a great way to add some extra gourmet flavor to sandwiches.

The expiration date on the Lemonaise jar was generous and I had at least nine months to use it. I could take my time using it without worrying about it going bad in the refrigerator. I bought one jar of Lemonaise.

When I first tasted The Ojai Cook Lemonaise I noticed that this sandwich spread not only tasted like mayonnaise, but there was also a great lemon flavor throughout. I decided to make a sandwich for a better taste test. The lemon flavor of Lemonaise was still very apparent on sandwich bread topped with meats and cheeses. I prefer The Ojai Cook Lemonaise to regular mayonnaise because of its distinct lemon flavor.

There are many ways to use The Ojai Cook Lemonaise besides as a sandwich spread. Lemonaise can be used in tuna salad, chicken salad, vegetable dips, salad dressing, deviled eggs, grilled and fried fish, French fries and hamburgers. It puts a gourmet spin on things.

A serving size of The Ojai Cook Lemonaise is one tablespoon and there are about 22 servings per container. There are 110 calories in a serving, all of them fat calories. The gourmet sandwich spread has 12 grams of fat in a serving including one gram in saturated fat. There are 10 mg of cholesterol and 85 mg of sodium. The Ojai Cook Lemonaise has an impressive zero grams of carbohydrates.

I'm not the only one that likes The Ojai Cook Lemonaise. The jar packaging touts that the gourmet sandwich spread was ranked number one in taste by the New York Times as a good alternative for mayonnaise.
