The Olay Regenerist Microdermabrasion and Peel

Andrea Rowe
Microdermabrasion is one option my dermatologist suggested to try to keep my skin lesions from Multiple Hamaratoma Syndrome at bay. Microdermabrasion is a procedure where the outermost surface of skin is removed by a lightly abrasive substance. The focus of this cosmetic procedure is to renew the skin and accelerate the rebuilding of healthy collagen skin cells. Crystal, diamond, and home microdermabrasion are the three types of this cosmetic procedure.

Home kits are sold in many pharmacy and discount stores. After much consideration, I purchased the lesser expensive of the kits to begin learning home microdermabrasion. The Olay Regenerist microdermabrasion and peel in one system is the product I use.

The Olay kit has two steps. The first step is to apply the derma-crystals to a clean and dry face. These crystals smell wonderful-almost citrusy. Use a size similar to the size of a quarter and cover the entire face like a mask. Avoid contact with eyes. Massage the product for 45 seconds to 1 minute. DO NOTRINSE your face.

The second product in the kit is a serum applied over the crystals. It is normal to feel a warm sensation when you apply the crystals or the activating serum. Apply a thick layer of the activating serum over the crystals. Foam will begin to show up on your face. This foam shows the moisturizing action of the serum. Gently massage for up to one minute. I can feel the crystals dissolving by this time when I use the product.

The Olay kit does leave my skin looking brighter. The kit does not heal the lesions caused by Multiple Hamaratoma Syndrome but does seem to help with their size. I purchased my Olay microdermabrasion kit for $26.00 at Wal-Mart. This kit includes eight weeks of treatments.

Over the counter kits have many benefits as the procedure is less expensive and easy to accomplish on one's own. The one negative about using these kits is it isn't as powerful as that done in a physician's office. Many dermatologists recommend the use of over the counter kits for their clients to maintain trips between dermatologist visits.

I too do not go this route. There is nothing medical science can do with "gam pa" as I am so affectionately called. Great review Andrea. As always. You so very, very gifted at some many different areas. :-)

I don't do microdermabrasion but some friends do and swear by it! Cheers :)
