The Olive Mountain in Evanston, Illinois: Middle Eastern Restaurant Review
Quality at the Olive Mountain in Evanston
Evanston, IL 60201
United States of America
The food is cooked from fresh ingredients in 100% vegetable oil and they use extra virgin oil. The soups are freshly made and both the lentil and chicken are filling and satisfying. All Meals are served with warm and fresh pita.
The hummos is probably the best hummos in evanston you'd ever imagined! Hummos is made from ground chick peas and they serve it with sumac, olive oil, chickpeas, parsley and spicy lemon juice. Hummos is known to be very good for you and I highly recommend trying it here.
Other appetizers includ things such as falafil, similiar to hummos but with tahini sauce parsley, and fried. Their Kibbeh, cracked wheat stuffed with beef, onions, pine nuts & spices. Stuffed grape leaves, amazing! Fried mushrooms are another one of my favourites here, they are full of hot oil though so be careful! And they are served with ranch sauce. And many other things!
To try their dinner courses are amazing and most of them are served with special rice. I suggest the lamp chops or shish kabob lamb. They do have a vegetarian plate as well. The deserts are great but not as good as the food to me.
If you were to go for lunch you get to choose whatever meal you wish, served with your choice of hummos, falafil, soup or lebanese salad. I can't get enough of that salad! And a choice of soda, coffee or tea. And there is also something special about their tea, whenever me and my family go there our systems are cleansed out with their delicious food and special mediterranean tea. Lunch specials are served until 3:00 pm daily!
As for the staff friendliness, I couldn't be more pleased! Me and my family are regulars and whenever we come in we are warmly greeted and missed. We are served immediately and even talk with the manager once and a while. I also like having conversation with a few waiters in there.
All in all this place is fantastic and definitely one of my favourite restaurants in the Evanston Illinois area next to 'Tapas Barcelona' and 'Flat Top Grill' and others! But that is for another day. Make sure you give this restaurant a visit and please, try the hummos!
