We often neglect the bathroom when it comes to much needed pampering and improvement because it is a room where we can simply shut the door and forget about it most of the day. However, you can easily and inexpensively restore your bathroom to a place where you want to be. This will simply take a few bucks and a little bit of elbow grease and your bathroom will be back to what it was when you first moved in. This entire project can be completed within one day.
Your Bathtub and Shower
Things like mold and soap scum can grow and accumulate if we are not diligent about wiping down our tub and shower everyday, and really, we are busy and often just do not have the time for this. So, first, strip that old caulking. Just rip it out because it likely looks awful and is discolored. Next, take an hour or so to really scrub your entire tub and shower stall. This may take Brillo pads, several sponges, some bleach, cleanser and other products to really remove all of the scum. If you have glass shower doors, first scrub the glass with a non-abrasive sponge and cleanser and then follow up with a good glass cleaner and paper towels. Lastly, make sure everything is completely dry and re-caulk everything with a fresh and clean line of caulk. Anyone can do caulking. Use a caulking gun and simply run a line along where you need caulk.
Your Sink
If your vanity is made of wood, you can simply sand and either repaint or re-stain it to give it some new life. You can also change out the hardware on any doors or drawers. The faucets can be thoroughly cleaned or changed out. Your sink will look brand new.
Your Toilet
No one likes to clean the toilet, but it has to be done, inside and out. Simply take a little time to thoroughly clean the inside and outside of your toilet. Use a good cleanser and brush and you should be able to restore your toilet to like-new condition.
Floors and Walls
Add a fresh coat of paint to your walls. You may also decide to change the color. This can completely change the look of your bathroom and give it a nice sprucing up. A good, thorough cleaning of your floors can also bring new life to your bathroom. This will require you to get behind everything and to move out your hamper and other moveable bathroom furniture.
