Pine like the tree.
Like the needles that dance in the air;
On the wind.
Pine like the scent that's familiar
Even when it is not.
Like the icy chill of winter forgotten in Summer
And recalled in late Autumn.
Pine like the eagerness caught in your toes;
Felt in fleshy foot bottoms
And eager hips.
Pine like the electric air that is touching you and
Is touching the one who charged it
So that you could feel it--
So that you two could feel it.
Pine like withdrawals at goodbye--
Sad goodbye--
Terrible goodbye.
How can you go on without electric air--
And that familiar unfamiliarity that's been
Written in the space between you and the charge--
Between you and the one you yearn for?
Like the needles that dance in the air;
On the wind.
Pine like the scent that's familiar
Even when it is not.
Like the icy chill of winter forgotten in Summer
And recalled in late Autumn.
Pine like the eagerness caught in your toes;
Felt in fleshy foot bottoms
And eager hips.
Pine like the electric air that is touching you and
Is touching the one who charged it
So that you could feel it--
So that you two could feel it.
Pine like withdrawals at goodbye--
Sad goodbye--
Terrible goodbye.
How can you go on without electric air--
And that familiar unfamiliarity that's been
Written in the space between you and the charge--
Between you and the one you yearn for?

Heavy piece, Heather! I think we can all relate. :)
I love the way you used "pine" here. You are very talented.
Yearning can be so painful, especially in the face of loss. Excellent poem!
And that familiar unfamiliarity that's been
Written in the space between you and the charge--
Beautiful!
i think that the inevitable humanity of yearning is a key element in making us who we are - though it hurts, it keeps us grounded in being people together.
COOL! Beautiful work
That was way too awesome! I think.... Yes... Yes, I can feel the electricity from this poem! I must see more!
