The Only Friend Who Will Never Leave

AnnaB
Everyone's walking out, one by one.
Everyone's stating what they believe to be facts, one by one.

Standing in pride so many are pointing the long finger of shame'"
Standing in pride, so many are pointing, to some other forgetting their own name'"

How is it my dear friend you can see my faults, how can you see?
My dear surely you know we've all taken of the same tree.

We all stand alone, we all stand together, and forever we turn and glare.
Forgetful we are how we point at another and stare.

Walking in pride, forgetting so soon we are all without excuse the same'"
Filled with shame'"

Everyone's walking out, walking out, and turning their backs.
Soon our room it is empty, empty, no one knows of our lacks.

Desperation settling in we fall to the floor, believing at once we've no hope at all.
Suddenly silence fills the room, as we hear a soft knock, a whisper, a faint call.

Turning towards the sound we listen once and again.
Again the call comes, "May I come in", the knocking it is as a steady soft falling rain.

Opening the door we come face to face, with a man offering compassion and grace.
Knowing our fate, he say's I've come to finish for you, your race.

We welcome "Him" in, scarcely daring to believe.
Yet, we do, and soon we learn, "He's" the only friend who'll never leave -- .
