The Only One to Still Believe

Jill P. Viers
I wrote this poem when I'd had a pretty rough day. To me, it was kind of a release of emotions, but I think it definitely has different meanings for each reader.

The only one to still believe

When all I want to do is leave

Searching for something to achieve

Tangled in the web we weave

Spiritually, my mind is sound

Emotionally, I'm lost, not found

Stuck alone, no one's around

Soon I'll slam into the ground

Breathing when the air is stale

Losing color, growing pale

Trying hard, but still I fail

The hurtling train will soon derail

Getting cold and feeling weak

Attempt to talk but cannot speak

Bleeding out, I've sprung a leak

I never used to be so meek

Growing tired, no will to fight

Trying to figure out what's right

Pick my head up, find the light

Time to lie down, to end the night
