No matter where you are or who you are talking to diets, exercise, food and eating is part of the conversation. The biggest issue at hand is that there are so many fad diets and pills around that everyone wants the quick fix. However, reality is that it does not have to be so difficult.
What is the secret to weight control?
These fad diets that are all around us may help trim away some pounds, but unless there is a change in everyday eating, the weight is certain to increase again. An effective program to maintain a healthy weight really requires two things: 1. Controlling calorie and fat intake. 2. Maintaining physical activity in your lifestyle.
Having patience and consistency with realistic goals are the fundamental keys to having effective weight control. Studies have shown that people who lose weight slowly and by modifying their lifestyles are the most successful in keeping the weight off.
Tips that will help aid in weight control:
Drink a glass of water before you sit down to eat, and eat slower this will help in giving you a feeling of being full without having to inhale your food for that feeling of satisfaction.
Have servings on smaller plates as not to fill obliged to fill up on certain portions just to cover the dish.
Incorporate fun physical activities into your lifestyle such as dancing around the house or walking up and down steps more often maybe singing a tune. At a minimum try to incorporate at least 30 minutes of extra physical activity daily if not most days of the week.
Conclusion:
Even a small amount of an increase in physical activity and a small amount of a decrease in calories can help in weight control. An average of 1 pound per week can be done by cutting down 500 calories a day and by burning calories through some physical activity.
Just think:
Remember a 2 oz. bag of regular potato chips has approximately 300 calories. So skip the chips and have an apple instead at just 80 calories.
So it can be done!
