The Oregon Man that Turned Blue

Cilloidal Silver Turned Paul Karson Blue

Have you heard about the man that turned blue? Yes thats right blue, like a smurf. No he didn't do this to be in the next X-Men movie.

You might have seen him on Opera, or on the news. Paul Karason started using Colloidal Silver on his skin to treat a bad case of dermatitis caused by stress. Colloidal silver is often touted as a cure all by ts manufacturers. Colloidal Silver usually comes in a liquid form. Karason was looking for relief from the dermatitis which had begun to make his skin peel and crack, so he started drinking it, then he started rubbing it on his skin. He said that he was turning blue gradually so he didn't notice that he was turning blue, it wasn't until a friend that he hadn't seen in a couple months saw him that he realized he was blue.

While Manufactures claim Colloidal Silver can treat all kinds of different ailments, the FDA does not consider Colloidal Silver safe for human consumption. The FDA says there can be many side effects such as Fatigue, headaches, Kidney damage, indigestion, seizures and other neurological damage, and Argyria --which what a surprise, is turning your skin gums and nails blue--. Colloidal Silver is made by extracting silver from metal into water with an electrical current, then drinking the water.

The thing about "natural" cures is that while sometimes they work and sometimes they are perfectly safe, you need to make sure you do your research to make sure they are safe for you. You also need to make sure you are aware of the side effects, so if anything happens you will be aware of it. Many natural cures work as good or better then drugs or medicines then you get from a doctor, and often without as many side effects. But other times the "natural" thing can be just as bad for you.

As for Paul Karason being blue must not bother him to much, he says he is going to continue to take the colloidal silver, just much less. He also hasn't seen a doctor or sought any medical attention for his condition. He must believe that it works for him. But he did move from Oregon to California because he says he thinks the people in California would be less judgmental, he hopes he will fit in better.
