The Orient Garden in Suwannee, Georgia

Sushi and Atmosphere

Karen Francis
Upon first glance of the establishment, The Orient Garden, It didn't seem too different from any other Chinese or Sushi Restaurant I had frequented. However once I got inside the doors I was instantly impressed. I saw years of "The Best in Gwinnett" plaques at the front door that distinguished this place above their competitors.

Once you enter the building, the atmosphere transports you from Suwannee Georgia to some place quaint, polished and full of Asian art and culture. As you glance to the rear of the restaurant you see a large archway that houses a large gong and artwork. It was well placed and really added to the Asian décor. Along the walls are beautiful wrought iron sconces that not only look elegant but add to the overall ambiance of the restaurant.

After we were seated, I was very pleased with the private booths that boast subdued but colorful fabric that blended well with the overall atmosphere. Also, surrounding the booths were privacy screens that looks as though they were made out of marble. This allows guest to dine with privacy as well as a bit of luxury. I noticed above each table where beautiful pendants that appeared to be made of some kind of high quality leaded glass.

I was so pleased with the surroundings that I almost forgot why I came. "Oh, yes, that's right, I want some great Sushi". Therefore I turned my attention to the menu where I saw the Salmon Maki, Super Crunch Roll, The Spicy Tuna Roll and the Tokyo Roll just to name a few. There were so many wonderful choices but I finally decided to go with the Super Crunch Roll and the Tokyo Roll.

When the Sushi arrived it was placed on a decorative platter and was accompanied with wasabi and ginger. I tried the Super Crunch Roll first and it was absolutely wonderful with just the right amount of crunch and spice. Next on deck was the Tokyo Roll which was simply divine. I think The Tokyo Roll was my favorite! Of course I couldn't leave without trying the desserts so I opted for the Green tea Ice cream and Oreo cheesecake which was the cake of the day. Both were equally impressive with just the right amount of flavor and sweetness.

All in all I would have to give this restaurant thumbs up, however I would caution you to NOT get there too late or you'll find yourself in the dark with the wait staff standing close by to see if you're done yet. For more information I would give them a call today at (770) 932-6688 or visit them at 2880 Lawrenceville Suwannee Rd Suwannee, GA map / directionssend flowers here . The bottom line, good eats at a great price!
