The Origin of the Name Jesus

Where Did the Name Jesus Come From?

Shimown Parham
The reason I write this article entitled "The Three Jesus" is to "Determine the historical Natures of these Men". There is now a universal recognition that the history and true identity of Jesus, or Yashu'a Bar Maryam along with the other two Jesus' that lived in his time namely Simon Bar-Jesus as found in Acts 13:6 and Jesus Justus as found in Colosssians 4:11 also know as Cleophas. There were 3 Jesuses in your Bible and the QURAN only deals with one.

Jesus had other names, Jesus was called Kurios (Mathew 1:20; Ephesians 4:5) which is equivalent to Adonai in Aramic (Hebrew) (Gensis 15:2). Adonai is the name of a sumerian God named Tammuz (Ezekiel 8:14) who was also called Adonis, and translates as "Master or Lord," Rabb in Aramic (Hebrew).

In ashuric /syriac (Arabic) it is Rab (Koran 1:1) and Means "Sustainer". His Egyptian name was Hor, or Haru which means "High", or "Far Away". The Greeks later changed it to Horus, then it became Latinized as Horus. Jesus in Greek Iesous, was an attempted transliteration from the Ashuric/Syriac (Arabic) name Iysa into Greek.

Question: Where did the name Jesus come from?

The word Jesus is a combination of the name Jehovah and the Greek God Zeus. When the Greeks converted to Judaism, they distorted the language, and the title Yahweh or Yahuwa became Jehweh or Jehovah. You see the Aramic(Hebrew) language doesn't have the "Ja" sound (Psalm 68:4) as found in Psalms, it's really "Ya". Neither was there any "J" sound in the English language before 1565 A.D. It was the Greeks that combined these two Deities. Je- from Jehovah and - Sus from Zeus to give you Jesus. The name Zeus and Iesous, are linked by the same root.

According to Larousse Encyclopedia of Mythology, the greek "God" Dionysus is Etymologically Zeus or Simply Dionysus is Zeus, and if you look at the names Dionysus or Zeus and Jesus, the both end with the same suffix, Sus. The suffix Sus is from the French, Latin meaning "Swine, Hog, Sow". Dionysus, also called Bacchus is the God of wine ; Jesus' first so-called miracle was to change water into wine(John 4:46).

Jesus was also known as Bacchus. However, the final syllable of Dionysus or Zeus is identical to the ending of Jesus. This proves the reason for selecting the suffix -Sus, for the word Jesus was because of Dionysus or Zeus, who was know as the Greek savior when the bible was translated from Greek into the English language. Just take the "J"off the name Jesus it's Esus. Now look at the Koranic name for Jesus, Essa or Issa. It is the same.

The writer of the Koran just took the sound of the name and used it, getting it confused also with Easu found in Genesis 25:26 Jacob's brother. As you can see the origin of the name of Jesus has ancient ties of what might seem as a conspiracy and robbery of ancient GODS.

This is the knowledge bestowed on us from Dr. York

(Part 3 comment, cut off comment, read in reverse! LOL) Truthseeker, As Believers, we know there is ambiguity in scripture, both HBR and GK, and I'm sure God knew and chose these languages BECAUSE of this, that 'though they have eyes, they cannot see; though they have ears, they cannot hear.' Both sides will take ambiguity and mold it to form proof of their own opinion. What we are concerned about is the Gospel of Jesus being the Saving Door in the Last Days, the overall message. The rest is for pondering, not proof, lest we make statements about our God which are NOT true even with the best of intention. Be careful of His NAME. It's not a plaything in ANY language. :)

Truthseeker: MSG cut off in previous message:

To get a better picture of the issue, look at this sentence:

"f u cn rd ths msj u cn gt ` gd jb s ` sktry"

Translated from notehand, it says, by context: "If you can read this message, you can get a good job as a secretary." CONTEXT in the sentence tells us 'msj' is message, but it could just as easily be 'massage' in another context. The problem arises when you begin to assess words from a Living, ever existing, God who is no slave to sentence context, where He means whatever He means both in that time and outside that time. Hence prophesy gets a layered meaning, past-present-future context. Or perhaps even dimensionality we know nothing about! (cont. above)

Truth seeker, I agree with your sentiment but not your logic. Actually, if 'Jesus' is translated into literal Hebrew as you've attempted to do: SUS in

Hebrew (letters sawmek + sawmek) is actually closer to

'white(linen)', 'bleached' (Strongs [8336]) and NOT literally 'God' as

you state. So YESH [3426] {letters yod +sawmek} == 'to stand

    out' or 'to exist'} ++ SUS [8336] {letters sawmek + sawmek} =

(bleached, whitened finely twined linen) is more literally: 'He that

exists (above all) / finest white linen'.

Because HBR is generally made up of consonants, with vowels added

in the CE when written standardization of HEB texts was done it's

difficult to know what actually goes on in ancient HEB other than

speculation. Consonants can be grouped for root meanings in

singles, pairs or triplets in HBR, although triplets is the default. To

get a better picture of the issue, look at this sentence:

"f u cn rd ths msj u cn

it's amazing that you don't actually talk about Jesus, rather the Greek lie of who he truly was, Why didn't you mention the Name YahoShua. you talked about the similariteis of the Greek gods and their abilities or myths yet you forget that Satan had thousands of years to plant these false saviors and even ideas of gods into our heads so that when he real came it would be overlooked or just not as big. The name YahoShua isn't in the bible except for the name of Jesus. Which I have recently found to be Je= Jehovah/Yahweh Sus=God, Yahweh is God.

scott davis it is written, it is better to keep mouth closed and leave a mystery of ignorance than to open it and remove all doubt

Interesting that anyone could quote the Quran (Koran) without laughing. The Quran is a plagiarist amalgum of Chrisitianity, Judaism and pagan religions with some of Mohammed's cunning thrown in. There was no "angel" revealing anything to Mohammed. Mohammed wrote the Quran for wealth, political power and for a harem of women. He profitted very handsomely from the Quran. To use the Quran in an authoritative way or to learn something about Christianity or Judaism is a joke to educated religious scholars.

    Nicely done.

Interesting info that most Christians are unaware of.
