If you like twisted, creepy thrillers then Orphan will be a fantastic film choice. The story is about a couple who suffer a horrific trauma when their third child is still born. Kate turns to drink and loses her job and their marriage is having problems, so they decide to adopt their third child. They search for a child at the local orphanage and find a 9 year old Russian girl called Esther, who takes an instant liking to them. She settles into the family very enthusiastically when they bring her home. The couple, Kate and John have two other children, a daughter, Max who is deaf-mute and a son, Daniel. Max welcomes Esther, but Daniel doesn't. Strange things start to happen, as the film moves on. She uses Daniel in terrible ways imaginable for a child and is foreseen as a horrible orphan child. Kate, the mother starts to become concerned when Esther shows she has a great amount of knowledge of sex that a 9 year old child would not normally have.
The film becomes creepy and twisted at this stage. It gets very jumpy and has a twist at the end that you wouldn't realize was coming. The acting is believable and it gets more scarier as things start to happen. The ending is weird and I would not have guessed it at all.
If you like creepy thrillers then this film will get you going. Watch this only if you like creepy horrors. It stars Vera Farmiga, Peter Sarsgaard and Isobel Fuhrman.
