Flaunting their lavish clothes and fascinating jewels
It makes you wonder sometimes
Why, in life, there are such rules
There are people who were born lucky
There are those who struggle every day
Actors get to wear fashionable vestures
While beggars stand outside and in discontent bray
Life oftentimes can be dismal and unfair
Even on great actors, it can be cruel on occasion
We all know that they desire to win an award at the Oscars
But sadly, this night is not always a win-to-win situation
Some stars go home decorated and euphoric
Some just plainly leave the event with dispirited melancholy
The hosts of the Oscar awards finally bid good night
Ending the glamorous affair with knack and merry festivity

Post a CommentThanks, RC. I appreciate it.
I haven't watched for a number of years as it seems to go on and on and on! Enjoyed your poem, Joey.
Thanks, Susan. I have yet to see the other movies so I am favoring Avatar because am not aware of the other ones. I will talk about the other movies as I see them. Blessings, everybody!
Great poem Joey. Well - that's it for another year. Some of the fashions were nice. Simple is best in my opinion. A good result for Best Actor and Best Actress. Avatar doesn't appeal to me. I like to see movies with real people as the characters. I like to be uplifted.
Thanks so much, Jack. I appreciate it so much, my friend. There are so many good movies out there that were left unnoticed. Let's find them and just share them with each other. Thanks.
I too expected more from Avatar, but Hollywood is fickle and not always do the best win. But your poem sums it up so well. I haven't seen poetry from you that I can remember, but this is so good, I won't forget. Well done Joey. You've got that gift friend. Maybe we should nominate YOU...well, at least for Rising Star for March. Well done. :-)
It was a great show indeed, Karen. @ Donna, all the things that happen in this world make us think and the Oscars is no different. Overall, I think the show did justice to everyone's performances. Avatar was one film that I really like from all the nominees but it didn't get much recognition.
I enjoyed the show this year and thought the hosts did a great job.
A poem that makes you think Joey. Good one. I don't know if it's unfair.that actors have so much wealth. Many of those actors struggled for years much like writers to share their art. They are paid that much because the public enjoys their work. It makes the public feel good or think about issues, etc. Acting is not just about reading words from a script. The profession is no less honorable than anyone else's. Some of the people in the profession may be less honorable, but that is in all professions too.
How true, Cindy. I respect your perspective, and also yours, Mat. Thanks.
