The nominees for the 82nd Academy Awards were:
- Sandra Bullock for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy in "The Blind Side"
- Helen Mirren for her role as Sofya Tolstaya in "The Last Station"
- Carey Mulligan for her role as Jenny in "An Education"
- Gabourney Sidibe for her role as Precious in "Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire"
- Meryl Streep for her role as Julia Child in "Julie & Julia"
And the Oscar goes to....
Sandra Bullock!
In her acceptance speech, she thanked those closest to her. But first, she began with, "Did I really win or did I just wear you all down?" Amid tears and smiles, she wove in a few humorous remarks which really connected with the crowd, like "George Clooney threw me in a pool once. I'm still holding a grudge."
This was Bullock's first nomination for an Oscar.
Congratulations, Sandra Bullock, a well-deserving actress!
