I remember leaving this movie feeling sorry for the actors that were in it because their names would be associated with something this dreadful. The actors did a very good job with what they were given to work. They read their lines and displayed the emotions that the director wanted. I think it was the only part I did like about the movie. The actors did convince me they were the characters in the story; it was just the story that was complete rubbish.
I'm certain that at least a handful of people have seen the television show that is related to this film called The Tudors. Although there are a few historical inaccurate moment through those shows they at least kept to the core of the history books as far as the who's who was concerned. Let's start with the character of Thomas Boleyn. In the film the man was depicted as a feeble and meek man that was easily bullied into things by his brother-in-law. Meanwhile he was perhaps one of the most accomplished diplomats at the time. Then there are his two daughters whom the movie is about; Mary and Anne. They are depicted as a pair of simple country maidens that are thrust into this overwhelming world like a pair of lambs to the slaughter. The reality of things is that both girls were educated courtesans and not the pair of stupid girls you are lead believe they are. The movie has no end of this both in characters and facts. Sufficed to say if you are a history buff or even a fan of the book series about these events you may be pulling your hair out when the credits are rolling.
The Other Boleyn girl is nothing more that a historical fan fiction. I suspect that whoever wrote this was trying to cash in on the success of the Tutors and Elizabeth the Golden Age. I don't usually pour this much dissatisfaction into a review but after enjoying the Tutors and the made for television movie of The Other Boleyn Girl done by the BBC, I guess I just expected more from this film. Also I'm getting really tired of the film industry giving money to such undeserving scripts year after year and the other thing that changes is there a just more bad movies. I doubt they will get this message but if anyone gets the chance please tell them to stop for all our sakes.
